Hey guys, I searched quite a bit, but haven't been able to answer the questions below based off of what I've found so far.

Is there a consensus on one versus the other? If not, why is the PMC cheaper? Is it simply because it's manufactured overseas?

Maybe I've been under a rock, but wasn't previously aware of that round... Is this just PMC producing something of their own to the M855-spec?

Thanks

I'd buy the PMC on price. The SS109 bullet is only going to be so good no matter who assembles the round. And PMC doesn't seem to yield a lot of complaints as far as I've seen.

Thanks Mark.

Would you agree that one could assume the price difference has to do with where it's made?

Yep. The Korean ammo is good stuff. Same story on the Bronze PMC 55 gr. Before the panic it was the $4.99 box of ammo that was just as good as any other 55 gr ball you could buy.

Yea, I've been happy w/ the Bronze 55gr. It was the cheapest stuff at Cabelas a few weeks ago (8.99/box of 20), so I picked up a few and they ran fine.

Thanks again.

I've been happy with PMC bronze and x tac in both price and performance. I miss the days of $5 boxes of bronze tho.

I've really liked the x-tac 55gr and 62gr for plinking. Whether good or bad, the x-tac 55gr seems really hot.

Federal/Lake City M855 vs. PMC X-Tac M855

OP I'm not sure if it would concern you but I don't know if the PMC has the penetrator.

Personal experience the PMC Xtac is better, have had their ammo yield better grounds than the Federal XM855 I have shot side by side for grounds out of my BCM BFH with my ACOG. Not saying I won't shoot the XM stuff for range work or training, but if I had to grab M193 or M855 for social occasions I would take the PMC. Now, note, I have only run the XM ammo out of that rifle for groups, mainly because I haven't seen Federal M193 or M855, at least not for what I would pay for it. Not sure if others here have access to M193 or M855 that isn't the XM stuff.

Will also agree that for range fodder the PMC bronze is also damn good ammo. Wish it was back to $4.99 a box, would take it back at 5.99 as well. :(

It wouldn't make a difference for my use, but thanks for pointing it out.

It does.

I have tried both. 2,000 of the Federal and probably 10,000 PMC.

They are both good but I go with the PMC. It has the penetrator, its more accurate, and flawless. There is really no reason to pay more for the federal.

I've got an ample supply of both. No issues with running either. Both GTG. X-Tac seemed more readily available for a time.

Any preferences between PMC X-TAC M855 62gr green tipped or Prvi 5.56 M193 55gr? The Prvi is marginally less (about 1.5 cents per rd).

I've also had good luck with Prvi M193 ammo. Either is a good choice IMO.
