Other than the Thorntail, how are the other 45 degree offset mounts like the GG&G and Daniel Defense when utilized with the TLR1?

Do they place the light in an ergonomic/useable position?

I'll get the Thorntail if I have to, but the GG&G is half the price and I've never had anything by GG&G that was bad so I'm open to using it.

I would greatly appreciate any pictures of TLR1s/X300s on GG&G/DD/YHM or similar mounts.

Thanks!

Check out the Gear Sector mount as well.

I snagged these images from a Google search.

The Thorntail mounts for clamp on lights like the TRL-1 are $50 not 70 bucks. Thorntail gives you the ability to shift the light forward if needed. http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/Thorntail-1913-Offset-Adaptive-Light-Mount-p/iwc-lpic1913.htm GH

Yeah the Thorntail seems much tighter to the rail and seems to push the light even further forward than most of the other mounts.

I am on a budget though, I refuse to by NC Star crap but when I saw the GG&G was $23 it definitely became an option for me.

If the GG&G offsets the TLR1 like the Gear Sector does, it seems to be just what I want.

Any input?

Thanks for the replies so far though guys :D

If there's one thing I've learned it's that no matter what anyone says and regardless of price you'll never know which one will be good for you until you have one in your hands. Mounted on the weapon of your choice and running it for a while is the only way, as can be attested by dozen flashlights around the house and the boxes of rail mounts, holsters, pistol grips, fore-ends and stocks I have in my closet.

The only certainty is that the more $$$ the higher the chances of good construction, materials, and quality. Doesn't mean it will work for you though.
