I'm needing to sell several long guns to make room for future projects so decided to designate which were "working gun" keepers for home and general defense. Parameters are mainly dependability set-ups for differing distances. The pictured four are complete except for the 18 incher which still needs a FA, CH and BCG. My TLRs went with trades and will be replaced. Opinions welcomed.

Top to bottom:
18" Ranier match, middie, .223 Wylde, 2-12 VX-6, 8lb 8.8oz (w/o BCG)
14.5" BCM LW, middie, 1-4 TR24, 7lb 14.8oz
16" Colt 6920, carbine, T1, 7lb 8oz
10.5" Centurion, carbine, RMR, 6lb 14oz

Optics: I originally had the T1 and TR24 reversed, but the 9.7oz difference makes the Colt feel unweildly and not as noticeable in the BCM. The RMR was chosen for the shorty for no flip covers, always on, least likely to snag and, for me, quick to pick up dot. The overkill 2-12x46 VX6 was because I couldn't find a deal on a Vortex 2-10x32. I have 65 year old eyes and would consider 300 yards a long shot these days.

So my undecideds are muzzle devices, BCGs and buffers.

I'm thinking the Griffin is not best suited for a home defense shorty. Use my Troy Claymore to blast baddies indoors? Or swap the Griffin for the BCM Mod 0 on the Colt?

On hand are 3 BCM BCGs, a DD, and Gen 5 LMT Enhanced carrier and Fail Zero carrier plus one BCM bolt. Which to use the Enhanced? 10.5"? Keep FZ for spare or worthwhile buying another bolt to use now.

I have A5 systems, but also bought a JP captured spring before I knew better. Okay to use the JP in the 18"?

The BCM and Colt ran fine at the range as did the LMT 10.5" I traded. Just got the Cent. 10.5 used. PO said didn't lock back on cheap ammo. I will only run mil-spec.

Damn, I already miss looking for AC to chime in or introduce some wisdom and civility if things turn rowdy. A sad day for sure.

If you wanted to pare them down, you could put the 1-4x optic on the 10.5", then SBR it. That would allow you to sell one of the middle guns off to pay for ammo, training, etc.

Yeah, the two middle rifles are pretty similar. But as I'm the family armory with five gunless siblings, I need extra iron anyway for when the SHTF. If I sell three I can still equip my own dirty dozen. Our deal is arms for food.
