I'd be more interested if the barrel was at 18 or 20 in and they could lose the tacticool rails up front. I wonder how well the 10rd magazines work?

For what it's worth...
Friend has a Snake Hound Machine VEPR-54R Carbine and says it shoots around 2 MOA with surplus ammo.

I've been looking harder and harder at these Veprs lately. 7.62x54r is dirt cheap compared to .308 or 30-06 and the rifles are inexpensive as well when compared against similar .308 semis. I would probably pick up one of the plain wood thumbhole stocked versions with either a 16" or 20" and build it from there though instead of paying for other parts that I would likely swap out anyway.
