I have shot a lot of the PP M193 mostly through an SLR-106F, but I recently shot about 400rds through an N4 and it was nice ammo. My question is about the M855. I have shot it and it runs well in both rifles, but is it ammo you'd drop a bunch of money into? I have read that while the PP M193 is a good reproduction, the M855 is not. The PPM855 has fed, fired and ejected without issue, but is it a "stock-up" type of ammo.? My options are limited by finance. I would love to stock up on Black Hills, or Lake City, or Federal, but really I can't afford it. I like to shoot a lot and I like to shoot the same weight of bullet for training and SD. Sorry for the lengthy post but what's the verdict on PP M855? Thanks.

I'd currently recommend against it.

Why would you select M855-spec over M193-spec anyway?

A lot of people do.

I don't know why.

Maybe it's more accurate in their guns?

For me, it's a no-brainer. The terminal ballistics of M855 are inferior to M193 (partially because of lower muzzle velocity), and it doesn't penetrate intermediate barriers as well. Certainly M193 is pathetic on car doors, but M855 is even worse. Given that M855-spec almost always costs more than comparable M193-spec ... well ... my decision is made.

The only reason I see value in M855 is when it comes from the LC or even IMI production. Then... at least you can hang your hat on a high quality round... even though it's a mediocre performer.

With the Priv M855, you don't even get a quality round.

That's really what I was trying to get at....is it a decent "copy" of LC M855. It was a little more accurate in my gun, compared to the PP M193, but not enough to warrent it if it isn't a decent round. Thank you all for the insight.
