Someone mentioned having trouble navigating the acronyms and slang terms we use around here.

I came up with these off the top of my head.

Acronyms
BCG Bolt Carrier Group
DRT Dead Right There
RSA Recoil Spring Assembly
LCI Loaded Chamber Indicator
LCP A Ruger pistol in .380 ACP
POI Point of Impact
POA Point of Aim

BUIS Back Up Iron Sights
RDS Red Dot Sight
NS Night Sights
WML Weapon Mounted Light
OIS Officer Involved Shooting
HSLD High Speed Low Drag
FTF Failure to Feed
FTE Failure to Extract/Eject
FTF Failure to Fire/Feed

IWB Inside the Waistband
AIWB Appendix Inside the Waistband
OWB Outside the Waistband

CCW Concealed Carry Weapon (Definition varies with use: may refer to a firearm, a carry permit, or someone licensed to carry concealed)
LE Law Enforcement
LEO Law Enforcement Officer
LEA Law Enforcement Agency
EDC Every Day Carry
BUG Back Up Gun

SF Special Forces or SureFire (accessory maker)
SMU Special Missions Unit
SOCOM US Army Special Operations Command (includes the Special Forces Groups, the 75th Ranger Regiment, a shitload of support units, TF 160, some classified units, and others I'm forgetting. See Wikipedia)

Slang
Gen1/2/3/4 Refers to generations of Glock pistols
G17 Glock Model 17. Match the number to the model. Glock 19 = G19, etc.
Tier I Funding tag for SMU—they get more money faster than anyone else.
Operator Legal term for Army SMU members, NOT all SOCOM troops. Often used to call out posers.

CAG - Carrier Air Group. It's the group of squadrons attached to an aircraft carrier. It's also the term to refer to the Commanding Officer of the CAG.

CFP: Concealed Firearms Permit
CPL = Concealed Pistol License
CWP = Concealed Weapons Permit
CWL = Concealed Weapons License
LTC = License to Carry

Carry Styles:
SOB = Small of Back
OC = Open Carry
OBC = Off Body Carry
___ = Hip Paddle Holster
IWB = In Waistband
___ = ankle holster
___ = Under arm carry


AD = Accidental Discharge
ND = Negligent Discharge
