Does anyone have or have any experience with the Detonics MTX .45? If the quality is there it will be on my short list for my next handgun purchase.

MSRP $1500.

It looks interesting, but I can't tell what's innovation and what's aesthetic. I'll need a lot of good reviews and a severe price reduction before I take more than a casual look at them.

Did not realize they were back in business. You may know this, but Detonics had several "lives". Last I knew of them, Jerry Ahern brought them back from the grave. Suddenly, they were out of business again. Looks like in their most recent incantation the new Detonics offers parts for most earlier models. However, I am always leery of a company whose existence is precarious at best. That said, if they start making the Combat Master again, I would look into it, especially since they seem to have relocated the rear sight to a more useful position.

I remember them as not having the best reputation when it came to reliability.

Until I stumbled across their website I was also under the impression that they were no longer in business. I haven't been able to find out very much about them, though, as far as reviews go. I hope that it is a quality product and that they can make a go of it. Some might say that the pistol maket is saturated but I feel that there will always be room for a quality product. Also, I really like seeing start-up firearms companies succeed. I really want one of these if I can just find some reviews on it. I may just have to bite the bullet and get one and do my own review.

Here's some threads I read a while back on them, perhaps they can help?

The first reviewer has 2 of them, one is the prototype which is being used for the review. He states he has 20,000+ rounds through it, take that as you will.

Can anything be mounted on the mini-picatinny rail on the hammer spur?

Thanks! I have seen the one from Bob Owens but the other two were new to me. It's looking more and more like I'll have to order one of these when my tax refund gets here.
