ATTENTION!

To all who have participated or just sent messages in thanks we are suspending all further transactions as of 2200 EST. This is due to the overwhelming response and the need to catch up on tallying the ticket sales. Also to just give time to reply to everyone. 350 tickets is the number of tickets we initially agreed on and we are trying to maintain this. Some may disagree with this and the more money the better but please understand we have thought through this and have our reasons. All messages timestamped before 2200 EST will be replied to. After we have tallied up the number (which I believe is getting very close to 350 already) we will adjust fire after we have our numbers. If we are still below our target, ticket sales will be reopened. Thanks for your patience and more importantly thanks to everyone for the incredible response!

We the friends of Army Chief are holding a raffle for a truly one off new rifle. Paul Buffoni and Bravo Company have graciously donated this uniquely equipped AR15 to Grant so that he may pass it on to one very lucky member.Duffy of Battle Arms Development has also donated 2 pieces of kit I know personally that Chuck himself would approve of. LAV has also kindly offered his excellent padded Vickers sling to go along with the rifle. Our own Iraqgunz along with Four Peaks Armory out of Arizona have also added some illumination in the form of a Surefire X300 to an already great recipe. Firstlight USA & member superr.stu are also donating a Tactical NV Tomawk light that can be used as a handheld or hands free light!

With IG's recommendation I have gotten in touch with Jeff at LEO Armory out of Tuscon and I am VERY happy to announce that the patch that militarymoron is doing in Chuck 's honor will be engraved on the magazine well making this rifle truly special. I spoke with Jeff on the phone yesterday and he enthusiastically jumped at the chance to help. Ironically he is retired Army.....Apache pilot :) Thank you Jeff and LEO Armory Military moron is donating one of the ArmyChief memorial patches to add to this as well. A very fitting touch to top this package off.

If you don't know a carrying handle from a charging handle we've got you covered as well. More on that later.

This rifle is a prototype and I know AC himself would have loved it.

Here are the specs:

This 'turnkey' AR-15 is to benefit AC's family. 100% of the proceeds will go to the family as the rifle was donated with that purpose in mind.

Again, BCM, Duffy @ B.A.D., LAV, VA_Dinger, Atlas Training, Iraqgunz, Four Peaks Armory, Firstlight USA, superr.stu & Grant words can't express the gratitude for allowing this to go forward. Jeff and the entire group at LEO Armory thank you as well for stepping up with a smile willing to help in this project. Militarymoron, the patch is very much appreciated and gives a strong reminder of why so many of us came together to help make a great man's life just a little bit better by showing him M4C cares Thank you M4C for permitting us to hold this private benefit raffle for AC. Thank you Sam for being such a good friend to Chuck and helping with me in guiding this endeavor. We hope this effort will help Mrs. Terri & the entire Petrie family financially, but through our show of love and support for Chuck, spiritually as well.

Good luck to those who enter and thank you for supporting our friend and eternal staff member, Army Chief, and his family. We are offering chances to win at $20 per ticket. Only 350 chances will be offered . You can buy as many as you like. The raffle will continue until all 350 tickets are sold or until the drawing of the winner on 16 February 2014.

SS just sent good advice. PLEASE do not use the words 'rifle' or 'raffle' in your notation on Paypal. This could lock the account. Also I stress please give your user name in the message box for ease of tracking. Thanks fellas.

Bought 1. Awesome idea for many reasons, guys. Glad to be a part of it.

ETA: Damnit! I used "AC rifle raffle" in the title! I'm so sorry! :( Ugh, I feel awful. Maybe add the warning to the OP instead of in a reply? I jumped to be a part of this before reading the replies since entries were limited, and then saw the warning later a few replies down. :(

I cannot stress enough that we need to be very careful with this. Paypal shut down another similar raffle and seized the funding from those involved until they paid a percentage of the funding. They were not allowed to continue with the raffle either.

Sorry for just getting to this thread guys. I wanted to post here just to make it easier for you guys to contact me if need be.

PLEASE READ THESE TWO SIMPLE THINGS:

1) READ ALL directions posted in the OP
2) Absolutely DO NOT mention anything about a rifle, raffle, M4C, or anything else gun related in the comment section if paying by PP. ONLY post your screen name in the PP comment section...as directed in the instructions :)

Thank you all for participating and helping a great American family!

Honestly, based on my response from PP during the John Odom raffle, they will shut it down based on this thread when the their team finds it via internet searches. I would scrub the thread and handle it by private message or email.

Alright fellas, due to a concern with PayPal doing something that may interrupt this effort we are no longer accepting Paypal donations. I apologize for the inconvenience but please reread my initial post and follow the revised payment instructions. PayPal may not do anything but I just don't want to risk it. Thanks to SHIVAN and IG for chiming in.

We are going the money order route. It makes it harder on everybody but please keep in mind what this is for. It's not about the rifle. It is about helping the Petrie's. Thank you all.

Guys, check the initial post again. I have listed the members and corresponding raffle numbers that have already sent money and I have had the chance to log. I was going to reply to each and everyone of you on M4C and 1911 and say thank you but the response is overwhelming and it would take too much time. Just please know that every single person who is donating your contributions are greatly appreciated.

There have been a few on here and via email asking why Ironman8 or myself haven't replied yet. Please be patient everyone. It may even take a day or two to respond but we will. Cory is helping out on the 1911forum and he may also be in the same boat over there. Just be patient fellas and we'll respond. A lot of good fellas on here and its showing.

Thanks SS. I've had that logo in my head for over a year. Jman4427 and I went to a rifle class in October of 2012. Right about the time we all discovered what Chuck was starting to go through. At the time both of us were debating on a way to show support for AC. This is where the patch idea was born. We were going to make up a couple of shirts-with the ACSTRONG logo-to wear in the class but the idea never took shape. Maybe it still can though. Always loved the idea and AC & Strong are definitely a dynamic duo.

That's not a bad idea and I think Chuck would like that. Him and I had a pm exchange one day about color and I remember him saying he liked black, gray. Subtle dark colors on ARs. Maybe do the patch in multiple shades of gray.

Custom serial numbers for any manufacturer of any real size is a major pain to deal with - that's why you only see small companies doing it

Also based on the fact BCM donated the gun I think the correct way to go is custom markings after the fact if that is what is desired - and not burden BCM with an additional tasking of doing custom AC markings after they already gave a carbine with a pre production key mod rail

I'm 100% confident AC would agree

It is far from easy. A friend deployed and Colt did a run of custom 1911s with their unit as the serial number prefixes. My jaw hit the floor when I saw the numbers. A custom piece isn't to terribly hard if your ordering quite a few units. Customer serial #'s are a seriously rare step for big companies.

What's the difference, is your suggestion not also a lower customization in his honor? The man passed and we his friends have decided on a fully respectable way to remember him. Making it out to be too much or inappropriate is the only mistake being made here in this thread.

Although totally unrelated to the fine AR related donation, I'd be happy to add 1:1 consult covering my area of expertise (health, fitness, nutrition, etc) and free access to either of my online programs if that helps the cause.

So are you still selling tickets

Unfortunately no. I got your pm just haven't had time to get to it yet man. Ironman8 has tallied up approximately 120 tickets and myself 230. That total is for people that have actually sent payment (and I have it) and for those promising to send payment.

I use the word approximately because Ironman8 is out of pocket until Sunday evening. We will get together when he gets back and get an official number and make a formal announcement on here. I am quite sure that we've reached 350 but like I said I need to talk to my friend first.

Keep in mind I am sure some people will promise to send money and life will step in and understandably they cannot. So between now and 16 February there will probably be some tickets available. If that happens I will make an announcement on here. Then, first one first sold to.

I should've learned from what Sam told me how fast the 1911forum sold out the tickets for their raffle but I was shocked how fast the tickets went. We are talking 48 hours. 350 tickets at $20 each. Do the math. This has been fantastic. Thanks fellas for your patience.

I got your pm and appreciate the reply. I know you guys are busier than cats covering 1,000 turds and my post was only intended as a gesture of "if no tickets are left, keep my money and use it however it benefits the family or the volunteers best". I'm only sorry it couldn't be more.

Others have said it, but it bears repeating, this is a great thing you all are doing and it reflects on the character of all involved with this effort. From the organizers to the donors of all the goods, it's good to see good people doing good things.
I'm just happy I could make a very meager donation to the cause.

Thanks again and enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Fellas,

Just want to clarify one thing. I have been replying to members who have sent payment saying I have you marked down for 'X' number of tickets. Later on I will receive a message asking why I am not on the ticket holders list In the initial post. When someone says 'I'll take 4. Sending payment', I reply with having that member marked down for 4.

That's a pending payment and is not the same as received. You will only be given ticket #/#s after I received your donation. If I didn't make that clear enough then that's on me fellas. Pork Chop, this post was not aimed at you man. I am just trying to avoid replying to redundant messages. ;)

ETA:

This shows the level of generosity on this site. I have had quite a few members asking if they can donate to this cause even after the raffle is closed. If you would like to send money just to help out Chuck's family then you are more than welcome if you wish and it is VERY much appreciated.

I will add this: If you decide to donate knowing the raffle is closed and someone backs out of a promised payment you will automatically be given that promised ticket and have a chance to win the AC rifle package. This is obviously a first come first serve basis as well. I can't promise you'll receive a ticket but if the spot is open and you are next in line (after I have gotten your donation) you will receive a raffle ticket.

THE TICKETS HAVE BEEN COUNTED AND WE HAVE REACHED OUR GOAL

So for now guys it is closed. If you received a pm from me early this morning you ARE included in the ticket count. These were last minute replies after the final numbers were done. We actuallywill be going a tad over IF everyone sends their promised amount. AGAIN if for some reason a promised payment is not followed through I will post up the number of tickets available for the first person/persons to claim. Also for those of you who have decided to do the nice thing and send a donation not expecting a ticket....as of 6 Jan @ 0404 you are receiving a ticket for the amount donated.

Thanks guys. Everyone has been extremely patient and kind..... except me. ;)

Jaxman and the gang:

You guys are doing an awesome job, congratulations.

FYI, even though we sold out our 1911forum raffle in less than three days (around Dec. 19), I am still waiting for the last thirty plus checks to come in. There were checks mailed on the 18 or 19th of December that just got here. I think the holidays and the wild winter weather in the Midwest and northeast have been causing delays in mail pickup/transport/delivery. And then there were guys that forgot to mail their checks, sick, went on vacation, etc. Don't be surprise if you're still waiting for checks at the end of January. We have approximately 140 people buying a little over 500 tickets.

jaxman7
01-10-14, 08:29
TG,

You bet. I posted earlier that if you would like to donate to the family after the raffle has ended, pm me and I will send you my address. The caveat is that if someone backs out of a promised raffle ticket for whatever reason the members giving donations after the raffle has closed will be given a raffle ticket in order of who gave first. We don't expect many to back out of buying tickets but with so many people buying I expect it will eventually happen. Very generous TG. Thank you.

Any updates on how the family is doing?

Terri and Ben were over at the house last Wednesday. We had Stammtisch at my house last week. I made some Venison Chili and grilled Duck breast wrapped in bacon. There were 6 of us and we all ate like hogs. Both Terri and Ben had a good time and seemed to be doing pretty well all things being considered. We will probably do Stammtisch at my house again this week. If not there we may be back at Terri's. It's kind of a little different without Chuck being there though.

Alright fellas. All payments that were sent out before the deadline of the first have been received. I will be making an announcement in this thread at 7 P.M. Central time tonight. Not trying to be mysterious or build up hype. Just want to give as many people as possible a chance to read the announcement. Stay tuned and thanks.

As a reminder the drawing is on the 16th. Can't wait to see who wins!

-Jax

jaxman7
02-05-14, 19:10
Alright fellas. Here is the news. When I closed the raffle I had all tickets accounted for. By that I mean the number of tickets I had announced we were selling had ALL been claimed. More specifically everyone had said "I'll send X # of $ for the same X # of tickets". Long story short, not everyone who promised to send the money actually sent it.

After tallying up the final payments I received yesterday I have come to the figure of 38. 38 tickets that were claimed were never paid for. That is what I have open for a first come first serve opportunity starting right now. I ask that you guys EMAIL me (djacks32@gmail.com) about this instead of pm'ing me. Reason being my inbox may fill and it will interrupt that first come first serve rule.

One caveat, due to some scares we have had with checks ALL payments for the remaining 38 tickets will be postal money order. No exceptions. You can buy as many as you like. Please keep in mind that I probably will not get a chance to review your emails until tomorrow night. I have been pondering on this all day and to me this is the fairest way to sell these last remaining tickets.

CUT OFF DATE: The cut off date for me to receive payment for the remaining 38 is 11 February. After that it is ended. Please, if you promise to send a postal money order do so promptly. Remember, this may be a chance for one individual to win a fantastic rifle but that is not the purpose. The mission is to honor a great man and help his family...period. Every dollar helps them.

Good luck fellas and for all who have participated and for all who will, your help in making this donation to Chuck's family is priceless. Good luck!

And gentlemen this raffle is now closed for business. I know he won't toot his own horn but SeriousStudent bought the last ticket. SS has always been there in Chuck's thread and has always been one of the first (sometimes the very first) to help out in our projects for Chuck and his family. The raffle is one week from tomorrow. The day after my birthday. Couldn't think of a better present than to announce Chuck's rifle will be presented to someone on here or the 1911 forum that has contributed to helping Chuck's family in this time. I know some time has passed since 7 Dec but for his family I doubt the pain has subsided much. Will we send them a nice check along with Sam's raffle, MM's patch money, Tav's grips and case, and of course the rifle raffle along with one other project not finished. Yes of course but I'd like to think our show of support will show them much much more. That they are in our hearts and minds and will continue to be. Mrs. Terri especially. We wish the Petrie's the best. They deserve it. Thank you all.

Far be it from me to tell them how to use their money, but I will say this:

When my father died in a tragic accident when I was 13, we took a family vacation/getaway when the hurt had subsided. It helped alot. It let us get away from it all and get our minds back on the people that now mattered most: those of us still on this earth and not spending eternity in amazing heaven.

David,

We all appreciate the work you did with this raffle. It must have taken quite a bit of time setting everything up, depositing checks, ensuring people who ordered tickets were recognized, and keeping track of everything as a whole. That's damn good work, man.

I never win anything so entering raffles aren't really my thing, but when I saw Matt's post I really wanted to do something to help Chuck's family out. Since all of these proceeds are going to them I felt compelled to get on board and I'm very glad we are among men such as Paul, IG, MM, and everyone else who donated or worked on this.

One of those things where hopefully the joy of being able to help the family in a difficult time cuts through the massive amount of work this must have been to organize. Glad to just be able to contribute. Great work David, and a big tip of the cap to the mfgs/trainers/retailers who came together with donations to make this happen too. Definitely businesses that will continue to get my business, due to their support of the memory and family of a great man.

I noticed it right after I posted. Haven't gotten much sleep in the past couple of days, all the names and numbers were blurring together. Lol.

kwelz,

I've actually had 2 members to generously offer the rifle back if they won it so we can have another raffle to generate even more money for the family.

-Jax

Somehow I am not surprised by those offers. We received similar offers from raffle ticket buyers from CA, Puerto Rico and the Netherlands for the Kimber 1911 raffle held at the 1911forum. The love and respect for AC and the desire to do good things for his family goes beyond the desire to win.

There is no losers in this raffle. Everyone wins. Good luck.

Again, thanks to all the donors to make this event possible.

Well said Sam. Its strange in a way I didn't really notice how big of an impact Chuck had on me until he left us. Now I know.

he doesn't have enough posts to post in GD. i PM'd him for his address to send him the patch. in his PM, he responded "Also, as I suspect that I either haven't finished a step or am just too new to the site, I cannot respond on the raffle thread. That being said I would like to thank the site (where I certainly now be spending more time) for letting a newbie in and participate. I am a member of the 1911 forum where I heard of this and missed my chance to donate on the Kimber raffle. And for a bit of excitement, this is actually my first AR. What a way to get in. Again thank you and to all of the people that had a part of this. "

Actually, he's a new fellow that followed Chuck over here from 1911 Forum. So he does not have the post count to put something in this thread, as it is in GD.

Anyone who supports the Petrie family with a contribution to the raffle, is certainly most welcome here. I personally want to thank all the people who worked very hard on this. Jaxman7 and Ironman8 in particular had a lot of very busy days and nights, along with others.

And I really, really appreciate Paul Buffoni of BCM donating the carbine. It's a wonderful act of generosity.

My next carbine's coming from BCM, and my prayers are with the Petrie family.

ETA: MM beat me to it. :)

Ditto! Paul's generous donation was part of the reason I decided to order a complete upper instead of building one last week.

I'll be honest....I really, really, really was hoping I'd win the rifle.

But I will take as a consolation that I was able to help contribute to a family in time of need.

I've kinda been there, lost my father under less than acceptable circumstances. And even though my father was a bit less credentialed than Chuck, my life still got the carpet yanked out from under it.

That I was able to know Chuck to some extent, as much as you can over the internet, I know how significant his absence will be to those closest to him. And even though I'd have loved a new rifle, I'm just glad if I can help his family with their loss with my modest contribution.

Phire Phite has been a member of the 1911 forum for a couple of years now. I emailed him yesterday and was beginning to wonder if I would hesr from him. He sounds like a very humble guy and is (obviously) overwhelmed by what just happened. Here is his pm he sent:

"Jax

Without many words to describe my excitement, here I am. As a new member, or because I have not done a certain step(possibly the introducing myself part??) I am not able to respond to the congrats and other posts made. I would however like to thank this forum for allowing me to join and be a part of this great cause, as I was primarily part of the 1911 forum. Also an obvious thanks to all that were involved in making something like this happen. I can only imagine the time spent on it, with both feelings grief and happiness. I was unable to contribute to the Kimber benefit there which saddened me after reading the whole 50ish page thread from when it started. As fitting as it may or may not be, this will be my first step into the AR world, and I am humbled to be a part of it. Thank you again"

I gave him my phone number so we can square away getting everything to him. He should be a little excited. :) Grant, I'll PM you later this morning after talking with Phire Phite. Heck of a contest fellas. Chuck would be proud. I have Mrs. Terri's address and after a couple of things that are needed to be tied up with a few checks/money orders I will be sending her our check. Hard to put into one sentence but to everyone that helped....thank you. Now....what to do....

Just a suggestion, but perhaps anyone who contributed to this effort should have their minimum post count requirement for participation in GD waived. I think we could benefit from a few more "good guys" coming from a 1911 forum.

Fellas,

A couple of hours ago I had the privilege of having a 40 minute conversation with Phire Phite. Our raffle rifle winner. He is a family man with 2 young children and has been on a great job for 10 years. He is a good man. It is apparent through this thread that Phire Phite will be getting his first AR. I say that in a tone that is not condescending at all...None at all. In fact I know he is looking to take his first rifle class later this year hopefully. If we can give a helping hand and set him off right then lets (as a M4C whole) do it. So in the interim I am sending him all of my DVD and book collection to get him acquainted with the platform until that 1st class he'll attend. I came away very impressed after our chat. He is a good man and has a great respect for our Chief. Am happy such a family man will have this rifle.
