I apologize if this has been asked elsewhere, but I'm looking to acquire a Ruger Gunsite Scout Rifle and a Leupold FX-II 2.5x28mm IER "scout" scope (yeah, I know all the cool kids are rocking 1-4x Accupoints, I don't care). So the issue is (are?) the rings.
I know Weaver makes very low rings. They're low rings are typically lower than other companies - to the point where I'd wonder if anybody's Super Lows are as low as their lows are. But I'm not fond of Weaver's rings ("Detachable Top Mount Rings (Standard Version)" per their website). I don't like having the screws on just one side of the scope, relying on a piece of bent steel to keep the rings in place, while simultaneously making it extremely tedious to ensure that the scope ends up level (as the screws are tightened, they twist the scope in the direction they are tightened).
Also, they look kinda hideous.
So does anybody know if anybody else makes rings as low that are of as good or better quality and preferably made somewhere that isn't China (like Weaver's quad-locks, which I like better than the standard Weaver rings… but they're made in the PRC)?
Thanks!
