Ok guys....just got back from a local gun show and all I can say is that Colt AR's are VERY high priced!

The 2 tables that had them wanted from $1500 - $1800 for their rifles. The dealers I spoke to would not budge at all on the prices.

No one had the LE6920, it was mostly sporters and other AR types the designation of which I do not remember, and they were SCARCE!!! I saw a TOTAL of 4 Colts in the entire show.

Here I was thinking I was going to get a deal!!!

Anyway, just thought I would let you all know!!!

Supply and demand. The last non-mil batch was sold/parted out long ago and the next batch has yet to be made. Demand is level or rising. Dealers are betting they can sell for the higher price.

ETA: Did you lay cash on the table, let it lay there and then take it away?

I did not think to do that, maybe if I had laid $1200 on the table I may have been able to negotiate, but I felt kind of discouraged at the prices being offered.

I really dont think they would have negotiated down more than $100 at MOST.

I think I'm going to have an AR built for that kind of money!

Damn, there was a WPB show this weekend? I was out of town all weekend but those shows have been pretty good lately.

Personally there's only three Colt models I'd bother with, 6920, 6520, and 6933. The sporters and such don't really do much for me.

I shit you not; there's a guy that attends the gun shows around here that has had (and will continue to have) a Colt 6400c for sale since 2003. Yes, it's the same one because I remembered the serial number! My gun show buddy and I stop buy every Hampton show and check on it just to be sure :D

He still wants $1700 and some change for a post-ban model.

back in teh 90s we had a dealer around here with a DR200 priced at $1200. It was on their shelf for -years-.

I don't know why someone would pay a premium price for a Colt when you can get a complete LMT for $400-$800 less.

I like LMT, don't get me wrong, but at the very least I'd run a Colt bolt carrier group in it.

Rob S,
I have both a Colt and LMT. I will stand by my statement. LMT's quality is on par with Colts, if not better.

SethB,
Why would you run a Colt BCG over a LMT? LMT's are MP tested, have proper staking and come with the "Crane Kit" already installed. I see no advantage of one brand over the other.

I know AR bolt & carrier discussions are a heated topic for some reason, but lets try and not let this one go bad.
