Hi everyone!

For years I have used the Speer 70gr RN over 25 to 26 grs of 748 powder and CCI SRM primer. I picked up 1500 of the new Nosler 64 gr BSB and settled on my new load of 26 grs under the Nosler BSB. It has almost the same bearing surface and shape of the Speer only with a flat nose VS the Round one.

Accuracy out of my new Colt M4 was 1.5 inches or less depending on my shooting skills of the day. Did not Chronograph he load but the Speer over 26 grs of 748 runs right at 2750 fps out of a 16" bbl.

We killed a nice doe at 100yds with a point of the shoulder shot that exited behind the off side shoulder. It was a high shoulder hit so a large part of the back bone was involved. Internal hole through the shoulder and back bone was sized around a 50 cent piece. Exit hole in the skin was 40 to 50 caliber. It was evident there was rapid expansion and weight retention. I was pleased with the bullet but not surprised with its performance as the speer has done the same at these velocities.

We also killed a Bobcat at 15 yds and performance was as expected, instantaneously fatal for the cat.

Overall the bullet performed as expected and I am pleased with it, next will be to put the same load through a deer using a 20" bbl and get the velocity close to 3000 fps, the Speer bullet failed at these velocities and we will see how the Nosler stands up to shoulder shots then.

We got a yearling at point blank range and it tore him at 20 yds, but not a true test as the nubbin was small!

Are you going to eat that Bobcat, or did you just kill it for fun/terminal ballistic testing?

Predators are usually hunted just for there pelts or population control. Most predators are at the top of the food chain and humans are the only animals that prey on predators. Also if you have a farm which I believe the op said he did, you kill the predators so they do not kill your animals.

The Bobcat is a varmit and was killed at the request of the biologist running the WMA. He will be turned into a pelt with a head mount for a coffee table cover. As a trophy it was small but deer hunters see very few of these elusive predators. My son killed a bigger one with a 25-06 on the same hunt, it too is being turned into a pelt with head mount.

Very nice cat there! Will make a fine looking mount if done properly. Try and find a taxidermist who is good with cats. Not all of them are, as they can be difficult to do well! Good luck---
