Anyone know where this falls in price compared to the other SR-25 models?

+1

URX 4 and 1:10 twist, don't know if barrel is dimpled or not but weight is same as ECC. Maybe going to provide a chrome lined reprofiled barrel with weight of ECC price of EC? Curious about twist change though, maybe geared for heavier bullets.

Weight is actually a misprint:
8.9 lbs with back up sights and 7 panels.

Lightweight barrel option in the works: SR25 ACC
Details to come.

That makes sense I figured there would be a small weight gain from URX4... Any idea where the price of the ACC will be compared to the APC?

A SR25 ACC definitely sounds interesting. I was very interested in the M110K2 idea, sounds like the next evolution of that line.

I'm pretty sure the URX4 will be standard on all rifles 2014.

However, the URX 3.1 will still be available for purchase separately.

Carbon cutter bolt carrier, ball dimpled barrel that is chrome lined, different flash hider and rail but I'm not sure those add to the cost difference. I think that's it.

I'm sure production costs don't equal that much more, but the carbon cutter BCG probably cost a good deal in R&D so the extra money being charged is probably to requip their initial investment. Being KAC doesn't sell millions of rifles to civvies each buyer is going to pay a little more for those R&D costs I suspect... Of course I have no idea what R&D or production costs are but that's my guess. Dimpled chrome lined barrel is a nice touch though, but I doubt that adds all that much to increased cost.

What I don't understand is why KAC doesn't offer the carbon cutter on the SR-15, I'm pretty sure they well many more SR-15s than they do SR-25s so that R&D cost would be spread out over many more buyers....

scatsob
01-18-14, 08:31
I agree, it would be awesome to know the exact cost to produce the rifle though to see what the actual differences in cost come from. I am sure that chrome lining and dimpling add a decent amount of time and complexity to production and therefore cost. Though in the AK and AR world the difference in price between a chrome lined barrel and non chromed barrel is pretty negligible.

More expensive rail, offset sights and test target also.

It will be tough getting one, Ive been waiting for a year on a ECC. It looks like the wait is only going to increase. I really like the weight reduction on the new models. When they become available for civilians again, ill get another. They will probably be even lighter in another year.

Wow 8lbs is SCAR 17s weight, very impressive! Any prices on these options? That first option looks worth saving for if it's at a price point similar to where the ECC is...

tom12.7
01-21-14, 16:52
I have no idea on pricing on these, but I bet the APC is similar in price to an ECC. The K2 and K5 have peaked my interest the most though.
When KAC unveiled the URX4 last year, I was hoping they'd do dedicated suppressed offerings on their line of rifles. The K5 does that, and I'd like to see what they have in store for 5.56 and 300 Blackout.

I read elsewhere that the new APC will probably be the only SR25 produced this year other than already existing back orders for previous models. Backorders (dealers) will be given the option to opt in for the APC instead of ECC, etc. Kevin also mentioned that APCs may ship before backorders as well. No ETAs at the moment. Mil orders are probably going to consume most SR25 orders for a while.

Magic number is 375 for guns remaining on BO for ECC's. So we are not just sitting around...*

Our intent is to build 5000 Commercial SR-25's this year (2014), however Mil/Gov/LE additional orders may cut into it.*

Dealers will be called this week to see if some of their customers want to opt for an SR-25E2 APC, once we know that - then we will have a much better idea on what will be the time line for the remaining ECC's -- and yes if you opt for an APC you may get it before the ECC's.*"

The ACC and ACC-DSR look like winners. I guess I will wait around until they become available on order banks, then I'll wait another six months to two years to get it haha. Scar 17s should keep me happy until I can get my hands on one of those two.

I really hope they release the K2 and K5 commercially as soon as they can. The APC K3 seems to be more of a evolution of the EMC/ECC K1, it's great to see evolving products, but I'd really like to see a lighter more compact version that could do 2-2.5 MOA. It would be a winner for a lot of folks to have combo's like this, many possibilities...

What kind of accuracy are you getting with the ACC and say 168 and/or 175gr FGMM? ATC or Max Spread is fine, just mention which... since KAC measures accuracy in ATC on the SR-25s right?

The ACC will be taking over from the APC.
The ACC features a lightweight 5R cut rifle chrome-lined 7.62x51mm NATO barrel.
In testing, it is giving the same performance as the medium-profile barrel of the APC, and we figured that buyers would appreciate the loss of weight.
We are meeting some past demand for the APC, but will be fully pushing forward with the ACC shortly.

Backlog for 7.62 rifles is catching up, had delays due to .gov orders.

While I didn't get to shoot it, I did get to fondle Jack's ACC and will say that you can definitely tell the difference in weight compared to my ECC. We both had the CQBSS in a KAC mount and MAMS. Mine has the URX 3.1 and Jack's had the URX4.

Jack also said that they were getting solid hits out to 1200 yards with the LW Barrel so, that's definitely a big plus.

KAC does not require money from dealers upfront so neither should your dealer.

Ayan at bolt carrier is good to go and does amazing gun smiting worth as well.

Unless you're picking up one that someone else canceled or was otherwise pre-ordered, an ECC isn't going to happen.

Dumb (or possibly inappropriate) question, but why the large disparity between SR-15 and SR-25 prices? Is it a volume thing? Extra developmental costs? All of the above? KAC seems to have a larger price difference between their two platforms than most other manufacturers.

I believe a lot of it has to do with R&D costs and partly due to military contracts dictating civilian pricing (just a guess). I owned an ECC, and loved it. It was/is truly a work of art. However, I couldn't justify the added cost over an LMT LM8 for my usage needs. The slight increase in durability, ambi-bolt release, and lighter weight wasn't worth the extra $2,500. I honestly feel a better price point for their flagship model would be around $3,600-4,200 (non-Leo/military price). The same with their SR25 magazines. If I was going to war then I would splurge on KAC metal magazines. But for my use, I can buy 5X the amount in Pmags as I can for 1 KAC magazine.

All this talk of new ACC orders... have all of the 2012 ECC orders been fulfilled?

Edited to add: I hope no one takes my post as a slam to KAC. In no way am I trying to bash KAC with this post. I love my SR15 lowers, KAC sights, KAC rails, SR25 flask etc. etc.... But everyone's budget and needs are different and the SR25 was just overkill for my useage.

Don't know about Dec 2012 but the January 2013 haven't.

In January 2014, Kevin B noted that they had just taken a huge mil order so I bought an new LM8 $2450 shipped to my dealer because I didn't want to go another summer without a 7.62 and I wasn't sure when I'd ever see the ECC. Glad I did because order still hasn't shipped. Due to changes in circumstances I can't afford the ECC anymore. But at least it been so long since I shot an ECC that I've forgotten how great that rifle is and I'm very happy with my LM8, especially after sending a couple of barrels to Marvin P. Now just waiting on my KAC 7.62 QDC CQB to clear ATF.
