Some of us older folks remember this particular brand. It featured prominently in several movies, such as "The Getaway":

Apparently High Standard farmed production of parts (and maybe complete guns) out to third party vendors and quality slipped significantly. They finally went under in the mid-1970's, although the brand lives on in certain guns such as Philippine-made 1911's.

Any of you old-timers own one of these?

Had several over the years. They were very reliable.

Why did the gun store owner wrap up the shotgun like a roast with butcher paper? Did guns come from the factory without boxes back then?

Wrapping it up was the movie director's idea with no basis in reality.

I've regularly shot a High Standard 10B that I acquired in the mid-80's and it hasn't malfunctioned yet. It's had a few mods, though.

So you're the guy who inspired Keltec? Wow. Lol. Must admit that is possibly the coolest thing I have seen all week and I much thank you.

I HAVE A jc Higgins I paid very little for. Its a K12-200. It had a PowerPak muzzle device silver soldered on, which I removed. Since the gun has little value, the barrel is being chopped and the Power Pak reinstalled. No reason, just thought it would look cool.

Neat feature is that it has a magazine limiter on the left side in the form of a lever. Pushing down, you can pump the shotgun, but a new round wont feed. Neat bit, that could make a select slug easier, will have to try it.

No serial number, FWIW.

Nice customizations. Unless you were around in the 80's, there is no tell that your blaster is less than factory new.
Well done, especially the extended mag tube.

Do you have a photo available of your shotgun now, shortened barrel and power pack back on? I want to do the same thing to mine. I measured mine up and I think that would look good.

I had a 12 gauge high standard flight king pump all through my youth back in the seventies and it was a work horse that put a lot of rabbits, quail and squirrels on the table. I traded it off for a Remington later in life and have regretted it not because it was better but because it was first.
