Just like the title says, im wondering if there is a pistol tube that is compatible with the Vltor A5 buffer and spring kit that I can also throw on the sig brace.

Simply put... no. There is no a5 pistol tube. The a5 system is longer than a normal receiver extension. The a5 buffer and spring can NOT be used with a normal RE.

Your only option is to get an a5 tube, take it to a machine shop, and have the bottom milled down to fit the sig brace.

This is an A5 extension with a pinned cheek rest.

Don't know if the Sig brace will fit over that combo.

I'm planning to use the A5 RE set on my pistol build because it is longer than a normal RE and pistol tube.

AFAIK, the Sigbrace only works with pistol tubes so you cannot use the A5 with it.

The KAK tube fits the Sigbrace perfectly and is longer than a std standard as it adds 1.5/1.75" of length. Maybe a better option. KAK tube is not compatible with the B-5 as the last 1.5" or so of the tube is solid short of a venting hole.

This is the correct modification to use an A5 tube with the Sig brace.

A precise way is turn it down in a lathe then refinish.

A doable way is to cut/grind off the notch slot. The part that requires attention is keeping the blade or grinding wheel from loading up. Al is soft and melts to the grinding medium under the friction heat created. It is important to use the proper abrasive wheel for Al - silicon carbide. If it cannot be avoided, use a very coarse medium with coolant.

No, a Sig brace will not fit over that pinned check rest. The hole in the Sig brace, as per the writing on the outside of the box is "Fits all pistols equipped with an AR-style pistol buffer tube (1.0-1.2" diameter)". The hole in the Sig brace is exactly that, a hole that runs the length of the brace. The Sig brace fits over any pipe/tube with a diameter of 1.0-1.2" in stock out-of-the-box form, period.

What is the diameter of a rifle tube? A rifle buffer is probably the second best thing to an A5 and doesn't have the slither stock guide channel on it.

A rifle tube won't be compatible with an endplate, so the rear takedown pin detent won't work. Try to use an endplate and you probably won't be able to engage the buffer detent.

Oh but it will if you do the 4-40 setscrew mod. that retains the spring/detent without an endplate.

Or turn the shoulder off the rifle tube, and extend the threads for a castle nut.

I believe the pistol RE is larger diameter than the standard mil-spec RE. The pistol brace might be too large in diameter. I was thinking about sanding down the notches, but not all the way, so that the SPB, still fits snugly.

Pending on the length of a B5, one maybe be able to have the KAK tube milled deeper to match the B5 length. Any decent machine shop could make quick work of that job.

Sounds like Vltor is going to make some flavor of A5 pistol RE:

That'll work right out of the box—I'll wait for the release of the A5 Pistol RE.
