View Full Version : Will a 15" NSR on a 16" upper interfere with a suppressor?

Has anyone had issues with a 15" NSR on a 16" upper interfering with a suppressor? I'm deciding between the 13.5" and the 15" NSR and the weight difference is so small that I might get the 15" for flexibility, but I intend to get a suppressor (probably AAC 762-SDN-6 or Saker 762) and would rather avoid an issue then.

Other than looks and six-tenths of an ounce, are there any other pros/cons I should be considering?

And if I'm fussing too much over this, telling me to simmer down is okay, too ;)

a google search of 15" Nsr on 16" barrel, shows a bunch of pictures. It appears that it would work fine

Yeah, I've done that very Google search, and I've browsed all over the forums here. I agree that it looks like there wouldn't be a problem, but I was hoping someone here with first-hand knowledge could say with more certainty. It's hard to measure how far a silencer overhangs a barrel based on internet photos of rails and muzzle devices without silencers ;)

The noveske kx5 fits under the hand guard. You could check the diameter of the kx5 to the silencer you would want to use

Now that's a clever idea! Thanks, madisonsfinest. I looked it up and the KX5 is 1.2" in diameter, but the silencers I'm interested in (AAC 762-SDN-6, Silencerco Saker) are 1.5" in diameter.

I think I'll ask Noveske if they've heard of any problems.

I'll do a mock up later today, I happen to have a 762 SDN-6 and 15" NSR.

Thank you, Koshinn, I would appreciate that!

It'll clear for sure. I'm actually going to eventually replace the BC on my 16" with another 51T mount.

Koshin- Thank you for checking this for me, and for including photos! Good to know a flashlight will clear a silencer, too. Chris Quigley from Noveske got back to me right after you replied saying they haven't heard of any clearance problems with non-reflex silencers, either.

Also, are you using the TRX/NSR sling stud/bipod mount for your Harris bipod?

Yep. Works very well.

Yep. Works very well.

Do you have a QD on the bipod?

Do you have a QD on the bipod?

No it's a standard harris swivel bipod. Takes maybe 20 seconds to remove without any tools.
