Those were good friends.
I don't think I'd ever want to see the circumstances where an AAD would deploy.
I'd shit bricks if the first thing I saw was an open canopy that I didn't remember deploying.
No thanks

The AAD is the LAST RESORT. Congrats to the other two heads-up skydivers who identified and took the proper action. May have saved is life.
Was watching the other (idiots) who thought it was planned and wanted to dock - they got waved off. This is one of the reasons I wear a hard helmet. Whomever hit him at 12.5 needs to have his butt kicked as there's no reason for this.

Yeah, "hey man, let me buy you a bottle of Jack Daniels" does not really cover this one.
This is definitely in "Let me introduce you to these red-headed twins who's father owns a liquor store and has a heart condition" territory.
Check this guy....!! http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/howaboutthat/10167507/Drama-as-skydivers-parachute-opens-early-and-tangles-with-helicopter.html

I've seen this one before. That jumper that calmly collected the load and that jumpers dumped container may have saved the entire load and crew. Helicopters quit flying quickly when stuff gets mixed up with the tail rotor...
