I have carried on and off duty for years, and always carry off duty, Glock 17, sometimes a Glock 19.

I used to carry IWB Blade Tec, but I have developed a nerve irritation from years of carry that causes the outside of my thigh to go numb, so I went to OWB carry for 99% of time with a Glock Sports/Combat holster which I carry at 3:00 postition.

The Glock holster conceals better than any other OWB holster that I have tried but would like something a little nicer.

Any suggestions of something that would conceal as well or close would be appreciated very much, Kydex or leather.

In the summer in North Texas I wear a loose T-shirt or loose button up shirt.

I know this subject has been talked about plenty but I have still not been able to find a good option. Thanks

I really like JM Custom. I have an OWB for my G19 and a OWB Version 2 being made for my G17.

I would have to say give Contact Concealment a look. I worked on a low pro position overseas for quite sometime and started using his holster and mag carrier about a year ago. Built great and tight to the body.

I really like my holster from savory leather! Beautiful craftsmanship and conceal well if you dress accordingly (Sounds if you already do) !

There are a ton of great holster makers out there. I went with Colorado Holster (http://www.coloradoholster.com) a couple of years ago and have gone with them since then. Great product and quick shipping!

Does this really go away when you're not carrying, or is it just exacerbated when you do? Sounds like Meralgia paraesthetica, which I also seem to have. I first encountered it on vacation walking around in Yellowstone National Park. It comes and goes but it is worse when I gain weight, and if I'm doing a lot of standing or walking. Other than that I've never noticed any rhyme or reason t when it goes numb.

Dillon Precision sells a holster made by Mitch Rosen called the 5JR-DL. I have one for my full size 1911 and it works very well. If you want to wait, check out the OWB line of Milt Sparks holsters. VERY nice. As far as kydex goes, I have only tried the Comp-Tac belt holster for a Sig P229R and a Raven Concealment Phantom holster. The Phantom works pretty well (for a 1911), but was a little pricey and had to wait a bit.

Good luck.

Thanks for responses, I am looking in to all of the suggestions.

Some of the makers I have been looking at for awhile so its good to see them mentioned.

As far as the nerve issue the doctor did not give it a name just "irritation". It is worse when standing in one spot for too long and is less when not wearing.
It doesn't hurt but feels strange.

When I carried a S&W 5906 all stainless, then a Sig 226 later,I carried them in a DeSantis thumb break or open top Speed holster. Carried the weight well with proper cant. The 5906 did not flop against your side when moving out.
The open top for my Sig is not stiff and supportive anymore, but it works as a range holster for my Bersa 380 and Shield 9mm.

Nor did mine. Talked about all kinds of maybe's and wort case scenario stuff, but I left no more educated then when I went in. Googled the hell out of it. Not a lot of help either.

Mine usually starts out numb, or tingly. It's by far worse standing. Up hill or walking mixed with standing gets it.

It can progress to tingling, to a weird pressure feeling., but almost always numb from above my knee to high on my outer thigh.

I've noticed sitting with my knees bent %75 for a long doesn't help either. Commercial air travel is torture.

Like you said it's not painful, and not debilitating, but it can be unnerving, forgive the pun.

Check out the kydex stuff from ConTact holster. I have a owb/iwb system for my 23 that I love. Great quality, great value.
They'll build pretty much whatever you can dream of.

nicer?

I'm in love with the purply ostrich skin one.

I have a half dozen of Tim's holsters and they are the highest quality holsters on the market.

Kramer's stuff is more durable (their horsehide is amazing).

I like Tim's work better than Sparks and other leather makers.

CCW is better with leather.

Raven Phantom with the quick mount straps. It's comfortable, and easy to take on and off. It's been my go to holster this winter. Wish I would have bought it sooner.

Been using a RC Phantom for my G17/23 for 4 or 5 years. I have RC's for my 1911s, Sig & HK, too.

Take a look at Dale Fricke's Gideon Elite 3 o'cl OWB offering. I love mine, it has very tight, rigid belt loops and wears very close to the body. It's the most concealable OWB that i've tried to date.

Comp-Tac.....

To me, an all kydex IWB holster like the Blade-Tech is very uncomfortable to wear 16 hours a day. Years ago, I went with the Comp-Tac Minotaur IWB holster. A hybrid with leather backing. So comfortable one forgets they are wearing it.

I have a Raven Concealment Phantom and a DeSantis Speed Scabbard and like both for OWB carry.

With the right shirt choices...I can hide a Glock 19 or SIG P228 pretty easily.
