I've committed to buy a Colt LMG upper, without understanding that the gas tube on them is the size of a pencil (from what I've read.) Will the hole in the barrel nut be sufficient to hold a normal size gas tube, or should I think about trying to sleeve the hole in the receiver? I was thinking bronze or SS tubing, maybe aluminum would be best, just as a sort of bushing.

I will be building a bastardized version of the 727 soon using this upper, plan on using a Colt M4 barrel. I've never been much of a fan of the FA, so I think it will be a cool build, but I didn't realize the hole in the receiver would be bigger. I'm concerned that the gas tube will be 'cantilevered' and may get bent or damaged from the carrier key if it's not supported by the receiver. Should I worry or just build the damn thing? (I'm having the barrel professionally mounted.)
