I've started loading for 223/5.56 and I'm running through my first powder purchase (W748) far too quickly. It is amazing how fast one goes through rifle powder compared to pistol! Anyhow, I was able to buy some AR-Comp from PV today and being a fairly new powder, the only data I have is that published by Alliant. But reload components being what they are in this day and time, I will take what I can.

My manuals (publication dates from 1970 to 2011, but nothing newer) all predate the AR-Comp release in 2012(?). Do any of you have the newest edition manuals that include load data for 223 using AR-Comp? I have heard that the new Hornady might but ??? If so, I would appreciate that info so I could pick up a copy.

Also, I would welcome comments pro and con from anyone having experience with the powder. Thanks for the help.

Yup, the new Hornady manual has data for 223. Pick up a copy and you'll be set.

I've been tinkering with AR Comp in my 308 gas gun. I haven't found "the load" yet, but I like what I'm seeing so far.

Thanks SW. I just ordered their online version. I hope I can work up an AR-C load that I'll like as much as the W748--about 26 gr of that powder was lights out.

I like 22.7 for 69 SMK and 22 for 77 SMK

Thanks, WC. I loaded up 4 different charges (from a little above start to a bit below max) under 55 gr BT to start checking for accuracy. Hopefully, I'll find one I like. My next work up will 69 MKs. AR-C is a short extruded and it metered just fine.

Yeah, I've never had issues with it metering well
