Ok, before you go "WTF? Dude, just change out the grips!", yes, I know that is the easy option.

However, with that kind of parts replacement/modification at the user level being a huge no-go, other options must be looked at.

We get many requests for this kind of item, and while there are some that will slide over, none really solve the main issue with the original HK416 grip; very slim at the top-rear area. This is causing issues for folks. I always hated it myself.

So, anyone know of a product that fits the bill? A grip sleeve that also adds some bulk?

I have run bicycle inner tube before, you can put a couple of layers on there to add some bulk.

You could do tennis racket padded grip and if you just wanted bulk at the top, you go rap a time or two around the top and then intertube over all of it.

You could make fillers to the shape you want, then hold them in place with tape or a section of bicycle tire innertube. Easy to remove when you have to turn the weapon in

I don't think you are going to find anything from the firearms market, since all of the grip sleeves that I have seen are designed to fit around semi-auto handgun grips, which are larger in circumference than the HK pistol grip. Something from the world of sports equipment like the tennis racket grip tape mentioned above seems like the best solution to me.

Limbsaver makes a sleeve, I've never tried it though. http://www.limbsaver.com/wpcproduct/ar-15m4-system-combo-pack/
On my duty rifle (not allowed to change the grip) i just run a few inner tube stips as mentioned above. Its cheap and when it wears out it easy to throw on another couple of strips.

Tuff grip would be another option - you could just cut it to fit.

Thanks for the advice.

The Tuff Grips sleeves I saw at SHOT, and got a sample of.

One important factor is that whatever is used it cannot retain water, no good in the cold.

Baseball bat grip tape might work.

I think bicycle innertubes come in different sizes, so you might have to get a couple and see which fits best. You may have to use a smaller tube for the upper part of the grip and a larger size for the lower part, depending on the profile of the grip. All A2 style grips are not the same; I had one from KAC and one from Spikes and they were quite different in width.
