I searched and couldn't find anything.

How do you identify a fake Surefire M900? I know "buy from a reputable dealer" but what about getting a used light off the exchange?

Can someone list ways to tell a real product from a fake one?

Obviously, always, always buy from a known retailer if it is ever in doubt.

From my experience, the M900 isn't all that and a bag of chips anyway. It's bulky, it's heavy, the running lights are lame, and the 6 o'clock position of the bezel is sub-optimal.

In lieu of taking a chance on a fake, you'd be better off going to Walmart, buying a G2, and getting a VTAC mount. The whole package should be at or around $100 even, and you will be getting known quality.

When you get enough stacked back to upgrade, you can remove the G2 and have a solid EDC light.

YMMV

Thanks for the response. Unfortunately, it didn't address my question.

I'd like to know of the differences between a real and fake M900. With the wealth of knowledge here I'm sure someone can point me to a source that meaningfully contributes with something like "the head mics xxx" vs xxx" or "the switches do this or that".

Outside of that, when it breaks, you'll know if it was counterfeit,

I'm guessing you've already purchased it, based on the 'tude.

If that's the case, it's a crapshoot. Surefire lights are serialized, get the number off the one you bought, call Surefire CS, and see of they can confirm its authenticity.

Another thing to look for, is that every Surefire I own with a metal-body is laser engraved.

The reason there's not a lot of side-by-side comparison here is, quite frankly, a lot of the membership won't take a chance on getting cheap airsoft knockoff crap. Buy from a surefire retailer, and you're GTG.
