Bless his heart, U.S. Rep. Jim Clyburn (D-SC6) has the unfortunate affliction of speech. In a recent article in The State newspaper, the 73 year old, seven-term congressman claims there are “barriers” in South Carolina that prevent black candidates from winning statewide office;

One of them, he said, is the state law that requires a candidate to win 50 percent plus one of the votes cast in a primary election. Often, that requirement forces black candidates into runoff elections that are harder to win, he said.

“That 50-percent-plus-one rule was put in in order to negate or minimize opportunity for African-Americans to win the primary,” he said. “It’s a very slick way to dilute the impact of the black vote.”

Clyburn said he wants S.C. law changed so a candidate only needs to get 40 percent of the vote when there are three or more candidates in a primary to win the nomination.

Something like the new 15 yard penalty in the NFL for using the N word.

More by-product of the civil rights industry and professional victims.

That man is an embarrassment to my state. Although a much more savvy politician and polished individual, L. Graham runs a close second.

Defining groups by race such as "the black vote" is racist.

So on the one hand he says he's a victim of racism, then on the other hand he demonstrates he's a racist.

And there is probably no greater or perverse form of racism than believing you are somehow entitled to the vote of every person you deem "black" because you qualify yourself as "black." As if those aren't all free men and women who may very well be opposed to virtually everything you stand for...like your inherent racism.

Yep. I did the math. Roughly 40% of the population that is eligible to vote, didn't. Whenever someone says the majority voted for Obama, they're wrong.

This is the root of it all.

We had this fukkstick activist in AZ who was all up in arms over a tasteless frat party where all the mental midgets dressed as stereotypical blacks on MLK day.

His response was that the athletic dept needed black atheletes and the University would be hurt without the Blacks. He protested racism WITH FUKKING racism.

3-4 years ago I was up on the Hill lobbying with our trade group and Clyburn spoke at one of our dinners. There was a brief question and answer session after his speech. There was a part of his speech that concerned teaching his daughter about managing a checking account and that just because you had checks doesn't mean you have the money to back them. He said that it took him a good while to finally teach her how to balance a check book. Me being the smart ass that I am I couldn't resist asking him that since he was such a proponent of balancing a check book why couldn't he propose that Congress do the same and work off of a balanced budget? It got really quiet in the dining hall and he had a hard time fumbling through an answer. Of course it was full of political speak and made no sense. Typical Politician

So what's he gonna do when his "40%" proposal, if it became law, works against him and a white candidate gets elected instead of a black candidate? Claim that the law is racist? :rolleyes:
