First off I want to say that Chris and Steve are excellent guys to train with. Both were full of knowledge and had answers for virtually every question. Not only did they just give answers but they gave feedback as to why things are done in that manner.

Starting out in the morning Steve and Chris both gave safety briefs one complementing the other. Both instructors were very adamant making sure everyone understood all safety rules and the results of what happens when you don't. Afterwards the class went around introducing theirselves and gave their level of experience. Overall the class seemed pretty well rounded with guys who had been shooting for years with no formal training at all to others who had been to several classes.

After all the safety briefings and introductions we got into the little bit more interesting stuff. We started off the day by loading one mag up with 10 rounds and firing a slowfire group as best we could. We did this so the instructors could figure out a baseline of where the shooters where at skill wise. Once accomplished they lead into talking about trigger control and how important it is to focus on. In order for us to get a better handling of trigger control we started doing some dryfire drills while resting a spent casing on the front sight. For anyone that has never done this, you should definitly give it a whirl as it is an eye opener for a lot of people. After several runs of that drill we got into a bit of live fire mixed with dryfire the "Dummy and Ball drill". While doing the drill they didn't just let you get away with a bad trigger press on a dummy, if you messed that up you had to do 5 perfect dryfires to help correct the negative habits. If I am recalling right that was the last bit we did before breaking for lunch(trying to beat the church crowd out).

After everyone got full up and rehydrated we got right back into everything. Chris started to introduce the proper draw and the steps needed to accomplish this. We worked this process for a good bit making sure everyone understood each step and why. As well they gave me some tips on proper ways to get the gun clear if carrying concealed since I asked a head of time to do the class from concealment. While I wasn't doing it fully wrong, Chris pointed out more efficient ways of getting things done from concealment. Getting into the full motion of the draw with some live fire his recommendations really helped out. From there we started getting into reloads. After going over the different ways to reload racking the slide, support hand thumb, and strong hand thumb they then demonstrated everything. Once demonstrations were completed the students got to work. We did each individual style of reload for a few runs then Chris put us on a timer for each. This helped putting it in perspective of which method is faster for the person. For me it was strong hand thumb but I am fortunate and have these big ol' dick beaters so it is not difficult for me to reach the release. It was kind of comical the first reload I went to do and not sure how but I just decided it was a better idea to launch the magazine 10 feet away from me. Just glad I listened and took hard focus not to try and catch it. For the final instructional part of the course we got in malfunctions and the proper way to clear them. We went over type 1 malfunctions which was pretty straight forward and we practiced just doing the tap, rack, reassess. Type 2 malfunctions are cleared the same damn way as type 1 so not much said here. Type 3, the double feed, there was a good bit of time spent on how to clear this and most can understand why. It was good to get into malfunctions as my classes I had done usually ran out of time or something else was taught that was deemed necessary. That brought us to the end of training.

The very last thing we did was a walk back confidence drill. It was very interesting for me to do this as I used Chris's Glock with a mounted RMR. I had asked earlier if I could try it out and he said what a great time to try it out then this. I think we started out roughly around 25 yds which was pretty easy with the 8 moa dot his rmr had. Still was not to bad once we got to the 50-60 yrd mark. I then blew it at around 80-90 yds and Chris later informed me that I should have aimed at the head instead of center mass as his rmr is zeroed for 40 ammo(anyone wondering he had a 9mm conversion barrel in it). I think there were 2 guys who made it to around 115-120 yds and no one hit it. Afterwards it was time to hand out certificates and go over everything. Throughout the class both instructors gave great info about what gear companies to go with and what shit works and what doesn't.

In the end was a great class and meet some good guys. If anyone reads this that was there and I missed something feel free to point it out. I will not hesitate to take another class with defensive concepts and already planning on doing their Shooting on the Move class.

Thanks again Chris and Steve.
