Im trying to decide if i should get the Troy drop in rails($150) or the DD Omega Rails($250). I know that free float give you better accuracy but is it worth the extra hundred dollars? The Omega also creates a monolithic platform.. Im not sure if id like that or just standard railing better... Please help. thanks

I don't think the omega gives you a monolithic rail but more or less sort of looks like one. There is still a small gap between making it two instead of one. The omega is free float and uses all your existing hardware. Very easy to install and the build quality is high. I use mine on a short barrel rifle so i'm not sure how important that extra bit of accuracy would be at the distances i shoot 50/75 yds and in) ) I really enjoy my dd omega and wasn't exactly how sure about it i was until i got it in and installed it. It's very tight and was a sinch to put on. I use a vfg on it and mount my quick disconnect sling to it. No complaints whatsoever.

I think this thread has been done before and I've heard people rave over the troy rail as well. I don't think you could really go wrong with either.

I've used several different brands of non-FF handguards, and they all worked. However, they have all become loose over time as well. If you don't mind rails that wobble, its not an issue.

The DD Omega is a FF rail, so it obviously won't get any play in it. The Troy 2 piece FF that requires cutting the Delta ring will also lock up nice and solid if you want to stay with Troy.

I recently bought an LMT upper with the Troy MRF Free Float Rail and it works great. It's only about $50-$60 bucks more than the Troy Drop In and bolts up solid. It also allows you to have a continuous top rail (no gaps) Great value for the money. Just my .02 :)

Can't comment on the Troy rails... but my DD Omega on my LMT is awesome. Easily installed, doesn't move around, etc. I have my light and a QD sling connection on mine. It's light in weight and appears to have great build quality. It also is not too fat in my hands, which was a concern as I have b*tch hands. :)
