That is very refreshing to hear from a big city CLEO for a change.

Too bad it has to be Detroit. I'd rather it was a city near where I would want to live/work.

Some local Detroit thugs put a hit out on this police chief a week or so ago. He had a televised press conference about it and says he is cracking down. Reminds me of Mexico where local officals are routinely assassinated by drug gangs.

Good on him (Golf Clap). I wish more CLEOs would buck the anti-gun liberal trend and stick up for the citizens. Those liberal politician who want the people to call 911 instead, are more worried about losing a potential criminal voter than for the safety of the general public.

That's not the first time he's said that, either. The last time his comments made it to the media, the "black" press went apeshit trying to paint him as some kind of pawn for the NRA, or various other ridiculous theories.

I don't get what's ground breaking about this. I've never heard anyone I work with, or anyone LEO I've come in contact with that has said "don't protect yourself, call the po-po". Every single adult human being has the responsibility to take care of their own security, bottom line. No most numbnuts out there have never even considered what they would do in a life or death situation, or what they are prepared to do in order to protect themselves....those idiots just call 911 and wait for their problems to be solved for them. You know the type.....same folks who cant parent their children, take care of their body, take care of their finances...same old same old...

Plus Police are too busy being the peoples easy harassment tools to actually do good....duh....

I usually respond with this answer when asked "what should I do...?" ......" Do whatever you feel you have to do"

The city of Detroit has seen 37 percent fewer robberies in 2014, compared to the same period in 2013. Further, there have been 22 percent fewer break-ins of businesses and homes, and 30 percent fewer carjackings.

Detroit Police Chief James Craig says the dramatic drop in these crimes is partly due to more residents arming themselves and fighting back against criminals. The police chief, who has repeatedly argued armed citizens deter crime, said “there’s no question in my mind it has had an effect.

The truth, logic and common ****ing sense does not jive with the disarmament agenda so don't except this to get picked up by the main stream propaganda networks.

Reason enough to have Facebook. Pretty much the only reason I have one anymore is to post this stuff and try to deprogram friends and acquaintances.

I love the Detroit Police Chief, in a completely non-homoerotic way.

I'm guessing that there will be some tax increase elections coming up in Miami that don't appear to have enough support so they need to scare the people with police and emergency services cut backs.

Classic tactic. Used here in AZ quite often with success. Municipalities continue wasteful spending, then go back to the ballot to get imbecile voter approval for School and Police funding.

These positive numbers could also be attributed to large numbers of people vacating this dump of a city during the last year and leaving little left to rob and plunder. Even the hip hop mayor left...I mean drug away in cuffs to prison with his constituents.
