Hey guys,

I have a Winchester All-weather in 30-06 with an nice Zeiss 56mm on it. Fantastic gun. I want to improve three things. Help a brother out.

1. The shock is around 14.5 LOP. I need it closer to 13 (short stuff). I took it to my local smith and he said the Bell and Carlson Stock would be a bear to shorten (integrated butt pad, etc). Who can do this?

2. Is there anyway to put backup sights on the gun that aren't a mess? Even very simple reserve sights would make me happy.

3. What is the best, durable aftermarket trigger?

In my opinion...there is no need to change the trigger...adjust the trigger you have, they are better than people give them credit for, most never give the MOA trigger a chance...

I have no experience with the B&C stocks...I put a McMillan on mine, custom ordered to my LOP.

Sights should be easy for any decent gunsmith...

Gotta love those model 70's...here's mine.

Winchester baby! I would do that puppy justice and order a Manners or Mcmillan to your specifications. Are you sure the lop is 14.5? Specs state 13 3/4". The trigger is real easy to adjust, I left my Winchesters alone as I feel they are right for me, did do the FN, and it's nice. As far as the sights, if doing irons, maybe replicate the old school type. Personally, I would leave it alone. Chad Dixon at Long Rifles might be a place to start though for the work. He's well respected and knows Winchesters.
