I am looking to send off one of my two smaller Glocks to get milled and have an RMR installed by one source tactical...
A Glock 26 or 30S, I like them both a lot and just cant decide which one to do first! Its a pretty expensive upgrade for me so it'll be a while before I get around to doing the other.
Personally I am indifferent when it comes to 9 vs 44 but the price of 9 sure is nice in comparison. But the 30S has a rail that I can mount my Surefire x300 to if I ever feel like it.
So random internet strangers give me your advice/suggestions and it would be greatly appreciated.
Perhaps there is another advantage I have failed to see in going with one over the other?

Thanks.

Ive never seen a 30s with an RMR so that gets my vote

Do it to the G26.

Go for the 26 so I can get jealous and motivated to do mine.

I am not sure if the 30s slide has enough excess material but if it is doable then go for it

I hadnt ever thought of that. They looked to be damn near identical in the rear when holding them side by side.
None the less I placed my order and sent off my Glock 26 slide a few hours ago. I know that it will work no issues with the 26.
Ammo price and holster availability helped sway my decision too.

Perhaps if I remember I will post pictures of it when it gets back.
First time buying anything from onesourcetactical.com but it seems they have a pretty good reputation so I have high hopes.
Thanks!

Another vote for the Glock 30s. I have both, but find myself carrying the 30s mostly because my duty gun is a 21sf and use the same mags.

Call and ask them about doing it on the 30s. Or you could post on their message board. I haven't seen on there but that doesn't mean it hasn't been done.

I will have to save the 30S for next time... It will be a while before that happens though unfortunately.

Got my slide back a few days ago and went to the range with it last night.
Took about a week and a half from the day I shipped it to them until it was back in my hands.
Overall I am satisfied with the end product but I feel like having sent off a 17 or 19 would have been a better decision.
My only complaint with the job was that the milled section of the slide was left unfinished so I put some cold blue on it for some rust protection.

1) put down the patch of tape under the battery
2) my experience with the OST setup is that it needs a lot of dry fire and a lot of trigger time to wring out the value of a RDS... 9mm will be less expensive for 500+ rounds of familiarization
3) I did a G19 and wish I had done a G26 instead... Have fun!

What does the tape accomplish, I assume to try and waterproof it? I ordered the mounting plate OST offers and with that in plate the rmr's oring does not overhang off the slide.
You can see in the picture here what I mean.

I figured its going to take some practice to familiarize myself like you said, it took me a while to get used to my previously owned M&P core when I first put the RMR on it.
But after a few hundred rounds it really started to shine hopefully ill experience the same with this setup.

Why do you wish you had done a 26 and not the 19?
The practical side of me feels like having the 26 done was the smart choice because its the pistol I always have on me while others sit in a case except when I go to the range.
Yet I sure do feel like a RMR mounted on top of a 17 would be a very fun setup.

We are reading off the same sheet of music.
I found the G19 with RMR a little big for IWB. I wish I had gone with a 26 instead as I am a smaller guy and the length of the G19 grip did not work for my centerline carry. A regular G19 works but not with an RMR on top.

On the tape, that is to prevent early battery failure. My initial battery went three months on a RM07. OST recommended a dime sized strip of insulating tape under the battery a few years back. No battery issues after that.

Great you have the eye training down already, you'll destroy it from here on out.

For future work you also might want to look at http://www.landmprecisiongunworks.com/

Mark used to do the work for One Source and is now on his pwn and does a great job.
