That pretty much blows my mind. I don't hunt so I guess I don't follow the hog hunting threads back east and in the south. I'm used to seeing pics of big-ass game animals out here in the Rockies but I didn't realize those buggers got that big. That's a mean lookin' SOB.

He really needs a shot from a different angle, you can't see the treads on that big freaking tank.

That is a heck of a lot of pulled pork sammiches! :D

They do pistol hog hunting down here in central Florida. They walk around in the thick palmetto scrub and literally "kick" them off the beds and shoot them at 7-15 feet or so. Sometimes they run away, sometimes they run right at you. I have a friend that does this around the Kissimmee area and he tells me it is great. I think I will pass for now as I don't want to step on a big hog and hope I am fast and accurate enough to drop him before he gets me :)

My friend told me I would need more gun than my .45

You can see how thick the cover can get in this video clip.

If you can smoke that bad boy, I promise to whip up a batch of sauce.

Someone else will have to come up with the amount of potato salad we'll need. I'm thinking maybe a few M4C members from Idaho could pool their resources

Those comments obviously came from idiots.

Me and another forum member will be hog hunting this weekend. Sure would be nice to see a huge hog like that. I've got a 350lb boar on my game camera and have been after him for a couple of years now. It's going to be a full moon out this weekend so we'll definitely be doing some night hunting.

That thing is nasty. A terrific trophy but nasty. Literally. No way any of that would pass my lips.
Too many health risks for me and mine. http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2011/05/110502-wild-pigs-parasites-animals-pork-science-health-nation/
Many people say cook it well and you'll have no problems. No thanks. I'll stick to venison for my wild game.

I've killed three on our place. Two were 200 lb boars and both stunk to high heaven. No way I could eat something that smelled like that. Made great buzzard food.

There is a standing order on our place....kill'em all, no matter how small. Very destructive animals.
Hope I meet this filthy swine soon. He's a 250lb plus boar.

I would love to go hog hunting. There's no place in PA (That I know of) that has hogs like this. Especially hunting at night…I'd be out every damn night if I could.

we had a TN hog that was down but not out and so one of the guys pulled his .45 and shot it three times. it barely flinched and did not die so another pulled his .357magnum and shot it once and it jerked up with a big squeal and flopped down dead. anecdotal yes, but a .357 is my woods gun since then. I've taken three whitetail with it...

The 500 pound was with a .308

Check out this 1051 pound a 11 year old harvested: he said he shot the huge animal eight times with a .50-caliber revolver and chased it for three hours through hilly woods before finishing it off with a point-blank shot.

My go to hog handgun is a Freedom Arms 454 Casull. There aren't many hogs that will stand up to a solid hit from it.

I eat hogs that weigh no more than 120 lbs or so.

They're great eating.

None that I've killed had any particular smell until I opened em up, but that smell is to be expected...

There is however one downside, having hogs in general. They are incredibly destructive. We allow friends to shoot them on our land pretty much whenever we want since we are not out there enough.

This has been going on for years, no matter how many we shoot, their numbers never seem to dwindle.

It is fun hunting though...
