Hey all just looking for some advise I have an m4 with a fixed a1 style front sight I am wanting to put a magnified scope on top and a reflex sight off on. 45* any suggestions? Will the sight post inter fear with the scope?

Most likely, yes. It will probably appear as a shadow in the bottom half of the scope.

You could shave the top of the existing FSB. This will require you to mount another front sight if you ever decide to go back to iron sights. Easily accomplished with most rail systems.

Or you could save your original FSB and put a low profile gas block in your barrel.

There are some variables such as which optic and what mount. Look at the pics i posted in the flashlight section about this topic. My 1-6 at 6x doesn't show any trace of the x300 or the Troy front sight when it's in the up position.

In my experience it depends on the optic. Some optics show more at the bottom then others than others. Have an ACOG on my middy with FSB and I can see a little of it. A friend had a 1.25-4X Accupoint and I could never see any in his. Seeing the FSB in the bottom of the optic has never bothered me, then again I am not that OCD, ADHD, or what the hell ever it is now for people who can't stand the image there. Depending on your optic choice I would say try it and see, if you see the FSB and can't stand it you can always remove it, whether cutting it down, or replacing it with a LP one.

Would a simple thing like taller rings move the scope up enough to eliminate the issue? I am looking at a scope that's 3-15x

Hope this helps.

First is a 4x ACOG in Larue ACOG mount with a carbine length FSB.

This is a T1 (unmagnified) in Larue Tall Mount with a midlength FSB.

It's not the shadow that is the problem it's the fact that you can't see what's behind the shadow. 3x15 on a rifle with an FSB... WTF are you wanting to do with this gun?? Sounds like you need to start over. GH
