Hello All,

I've been a long time lurker and recently joined, this being my first post. I'm retired AF, first 12 years in security forces until I retrained into communications where I then spent 14 years in various combat comm roles. I am intimately familiar with AR platforms and recently bought a PSA carbine to keep around the house. Curious about the Magpul products in regard to quality. Not getting fancy with this thing just yet but am considering changing the hand guards and adding only a light at this point. It appears to me that all attachment/accessory mounts are unique to their design and if I want a light mount, it should be a Magpul brand attachment or rail. Still doing market research on various manufacture's products but I keep coming back around to Magpul. I've seen by reading this forum that I could keep it simple or seriously trick it out at great expense...the latter of which I see no reason to. Only purpose will be for home defense and the occasional coyote or varmint around the house. Thanks in advance for any input.

Magpul's plastics are second to none. They may have equals in various parts(stocks/grips/magazines/whatever) but they are not surpassed.

If they make it and it works for you, rest assured that it will be a very high quality piece...and in the event of a problem they have customer service that's right up there with Surefire and Gear Sector.

I've watched a video of Magpul Pmag being run over by a 4x4 pickup..and the magazine survived and functions flawlessly.. Youtube...
Best products for the money... and fit and finish are top notch..

Never had any issue with magpul products. Likely here's have said built very nicely. Just make sure you don't accidentally grab the airsoft stuff out there aka knock-offs.

I like their followers for g.i. mags and the MOE grip is nice, but source your own screw.

I never got along with Pmags and/or any of their stocks. I think their slings are pretty poor and all the rail covers and AFG type stuff is just not anything that interests me in the least.

Impact Weapons Components makes a light mount that fits the MOE hand guard. Seems to be a good mount to me in the short time I've had it.

Not a fan of their plastic MBUS sights. Seen more than one break. And they're light mounts are pretty sorry IMO. Most everything else is good though, especially their stocks and PMags. And their trigger guards are right up there with the polio vaccine as far as great inventions go.

I second the impact weapons mount for the magpul hand guard. It places my hand perfectly to activate the light.

The moe stock and metal trigger guard are nice as well. They are durable enough to not baby the rifle and cheap enough that if you damage an item it's easily and cheaply replaceable.

I have found MagPul furniture to be very durable. For a light mount, I use the Mossie Tactical Midnight mount. Very simple and easy to use

I would take the item of interest and put it in the search box. There is probably an hours worth of reading on any of their products....if not more.

I think you will find almost all of their product are well thought out. Some are intended as lower cost quality alternatives and other are truly industry standards to which other products are judged against.

I've always wondered how that light setup was to use.
Do you just hold rifle by the FSB when you're using the light?

While not a fan of their slings (they need padding) I am a fan of pretty much everything else they make and as far as supporting the 2A, you will not find a better company. If I had a stock carbine the MOE handguard is my first choose. The MOE Scout light is second to none in use and price on the MOE hg. I pretty much use their mags exclusively. Recently am using their MBUS Pro sights on one of my rifles and they have quickly become my favorite..... offset versions please!!! As far as just the plastic is concerned I doubt any other company has done more further testing and evaluation than Magpul so rest at ease and buy with confidence. Not to mention their CS is second to none if you ever do have a problem.

Magpul makes excellent products. There's a good reason why they are an Industry leader in that regard. I hate the A2 grip and basic M4 stock (wobbles too much) so those always gets upgraded to Magpul's.

-Some of their stocks are very good. Some are just average.
-Pmags speak for themselves. They are popular for a reason. They just work.
-Their Slings aren't good in my option. They are hard to adjust on the fly and I prefer a sling with padding.
-I tried two different MIAD Grips and neither one of them fit well on 4 different receivers. The screws they come with suck and the grip did not sit flush with the receiver.
-The handguards are made well but a little too thick for my liking.
-The MBUS gets the job done and are fine in the back up role but if I was using irons primarily, I'd go with something else.

I can't imagine this being a serious thread. There must be metric assloads of information here about various Magpul products.
