After studying about it, looking at it on knife porn for weeks and then drinking too much Bulleit one Fri night I found myself the soon to be owner of an Grey Micarta semi-serrated ESEE-4.
When it arrived I wasn't disappointed. I did strip the black coating off and will let it patina on it's own.
I'm going to order a Spyderco Sharpmaker to maintain the hair popping 20 degree edge. The cool thing I've been told are the ESEE serrations can be sharpened like the rest of the plain blade, no trying to sharpen each individual tooth like on some serrated edges.

they told me that about the serrations too. but it doesn't cut on the edge, it uses the scallop so you'll have to touch that up too...

I'm thinking since the serrations are spaced out the edge in between does a good amount of cutting, they have to, and the corners where they become scallops are the saw teeth. Anyway, a pointed, round diamond
sharpener should handle the scallops nicely.

I have an ESEE 3 plain edge (drop point). The quality and utility of these tools is outstanding. I don't doubt that you'll love it.

If you don't carry it every day, it's not every day carry.
