View Full Version : Geissele reaction rod, issue or normal?
Recent purchase. Reaction rod securely mounted in my bench vise. Text on the reaction rod facing up. When I mount a barreled upper onto it, the upper assembly is timed slightly clockwise (viewed from the muzzle end looking toward the reaction rod). It's about a 10-20 degree rotation clockwise. Timed the same on other uppers/barrels.
Is the upper receiver rail plane supposed to be perpendicular to the flats of the reaction rod? It still works fine, but adds a level of difficulty when having to eyeballing certain aspects of an upper build...at an angle.
Is this normal? Thanks for the input.
Is the table that the vice is mounted level?
"Is the table that the vice is mounted level?"
...yes.
The barrel and receiver are still not squared up to the flats of the tool.
I'm more curious if it's just my tool, or they're all cockeyed at the same angle/degrees, or it's random at what angle they sit?

That's interesting. I felt mine was pretty level so I put a level on it and it's spot on. I wonder if there was a design change at some point. Hard to see them putting these out with varying lug positions on them.

Am I missing something? I can put mine into a receiver extension in a 360 degree rotation, wherever I want it. There isnt a specific point on the tool that the upper goes into, I dont think, and I have used mine plenty.
Although to be fair I generally have mine perpendicular to my bench when building uppers so I dont generally care where its at in the rotation so maybe I just have never noticed it, if it is off that is.
