MI Keymod Panel Covers
We are proud to release our very own panel covers for Keymod handguards.
These covers use mechanical fasteners unlike others on the market which makes them extremely secure.
These covers when placed on the MI-SSK handguard which has an outside diameter of 1.5” only increases it to 1.760” with the panels installed.
The kits will come in three packs with one 3 slot cover, one 4 slot cover, and one 5 slot clover.
There will be two variations, one with the 3 slot flat and another with the 3 slot having a built in hand stop.
The three panels with all flats weigh in at .8oz and will retail for $19.95 with an introductory price of $18.00
The three panel kit with the hand stop panel weighs in at .9oz and will retail for $19.95 with and introductory price of $18.00

When you attach something to a Keymod rail, you still have to tighten down the actual inserts that go into the Keymod slots once they're in place. If not, it would slip out.

Did you even read their description? The second sentence answers your question and clearly explains they wanted mechanical fasteners to make the rail sections more secure than the other plastic slip in ones out there.
Looks good! I'm digging the drop in handguard version. May go this route with my next build.

Necessary or not, it gives people a different, more secure option for Keymod rail covers. Why is that a bad thing?
I think it's great they are offering something more than what's already out there. Something doesn't need to be absolutely "necessary" for it to be of benefit. I can get by just fine with a standard charging handle, but I like that BCM created a better version.

We chose a mechanical fastener set up so you can take panels on and off with ease. You also have panels that stay tight if you take them on and off a few times. The ones you tap in tend to loosen up if you install and remove them a couple times. These can be installed and removed over and over (no problem). We have had numerous customers request these due to their unpleasant dealings with the tab type units.

Options are a good thing.
They almost look like they have been stippled, would you say they are grippier than other options out there. I agree that options are a good thing.

They have a good texture like our other panels. Rough but not enough remove the skin. I think they are comparable to the textured examples out there. They give you excellent grip with wet hands or gloves just like our G2 ss panels .

Can we see some pictures of the back side of the cover to get an idea of how it will interface with a rail?
Will these work on a Noveske NSR rail?
I wish they made the handstop panel in 4 slot legnth.

...Because thats how keymod works...
and thats the point of these covers vs. others on the market that just attach by friction. A point lost on you.
I am quite happy about how these attach and ordered them for my KMR.

Why all the fussin an fightin? If you don't want them, don't buy them...
Yes, the Noveske panels fit great, feel great, and lock up tight. But I've seen first hand how some folks have trouble putting them on and taking them off. How many AR owners set up a rifle and then leave it as is? Most owners change their set-up more often than my nieces change their Barbie clothes. As more Keymod products come to market, making quick easy changes is a plus. As far as the screws, other than some panels what other Keymod accessories don't have screws? Love it or hate it, isn't Keymod designed to be a standard? The screw and Keymod nut IS the standard.
I'm going to pick up some of these panels as soon as I figure out how I want to lay them out. If something better comes along, I'll switch them out and drop them in my parts box along with all the other parts I've moved on from.
Anyone else using these now? I like the idea of the fasteners. These seem like a better option all the way around. I'm a huge Noveske fan and I think their keymod rail panels suck. BCM's are non existent and KAC's look funny.

Just received mine today and threw them on my BCM KMR right away. So far so good. I'm happy with the look, texture and fastening method. Now I've got panels exactly where I need them and nowhere else. I bought one of their kits and the panel sizes worked out very well for my setup.

Right on. I plan to buy some of these shortly. These seem to be the best thing going in the keymod rail cover world.

Picked up two sets for a 13" KMR Rail + and additional 3hole, probably need one more 5 hole, or maybe even a 4/5 combo for the bottom behind the grip (which means, I should have just ordered 3 sets and not the extra 3h doh :bad:, but I like the results so far.
Is it normal to have to install some "upside down" to get them aligned next to each other (ie, like the photo's in the OP)? If I try to install them in the same orientation, It creates a gap. If I flip the middle one upside down, they all butt up against each other nicely. I honestly don't know if it matters but noticed it does put the "lug" in a different position when doing so. Also the logo becomes upside down. None of this bothers me, as long as they will stay put in this configuration...

OK, yeah I figured since MI posted his pics with the same config, it must be fine.
I went ahead and ordered the handstop kit, I think a 5 and 4 combo will fill the 6 o'clock area behind the grip perfectly, plus it gives me a handstop if I ever decide to move in that direction. If it's too long then a 5/3 or 4/3 should work since I have an extra. Very few places had the handstop set in stock, including MI, BCM, etc - but I found some at Midway.
Just an updated pic, added the last set with the handstop - never really used a handstop proper before, always did the thumb-over grip using the VFT as a positional reference, so just put the handstop piece in place where it is for now - figure it would work there for normal gripping at the rear of the rail. May adjust after I shoot it some tomorrow...
