For all the Dads...what kind of diaper bag are you all using? Or do you just let the wife carry all the stuff?

The wife normally takes ours, and for what she spent on it i tell her she better carry that damn thing everywhere. If we go to the zoo or something I'll throw the necessities in my maxpedition gear slinger if were doing a lot of walking.

I used my kifaru X-rayG2. It was awesome because of the modularity. I had pouches of wipes, snacks, diapers, and other things that I kept organized in there. The top and front load made it really easy.

Extreme Gear Labs DOOSHBAG.

The dooshbag is cool. Very pricey. I ordered the "toddler aid kit" from EGL. It's strictly for diapers, wipes and one spare outfit. I had hoped to just toss it into whatever bag I'm using for the day or the stroller.

I would post pics but it's not here yet. So far the wait has been six months. By the time it comes my daughter will be out of diapers.

Some Eddie Bauer bag at Babies R Us. Maybe about half again as big as the old USGI butt packs. Holds enough for a change of clothes, bib, about 5 diapers, wipes, ointment, some food (usually 2 pouches of food, plus 1 or 2 small containers of snacks). If you pack it tight you can usually get a few small toys and a sippy cup if you're dynamite.

Man, things have changed since we had kids. I think we used a Winnie the Pooh bag for the first and a generic bag for #2. Gettin' old I guess.
I envy you guys thinking about the modularity of your diaper bags! I'm not that high-speed even on by range bags............
Pics please!

I bought a fisher-price fast finder diaper backpack (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BSE9J68/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B00BSE9J68&linkCode=as2&tag=reviews01f3-20) when my kid was born. She's around 15 months now and we take it out once or twice a week when we go out. It looks brand new and has more than enough space for all baby-related anything. I keep a med-kit in mine as well (just in case).

Highly recommended.

Primary is a Stealth Operator Pack (gray) - it has decent organization for diaper rash supplies, wet wipes and assorted items in the small compartment- http://www.greyghostgear.com/packs/stealth-operator-pack-1. My wife sometimes complains about the limited size, but it is awfully useful for day-to-use, easy in-and-out of the car and able to be one-strap slung as needed. Snacks, change of clothes, blanket, bottles, extra formula and snaks fit in addition to diapers.

The Dad's back-up diaper bag with a baby chest carrier is an LBT Go Bag (gray).

These are comparable cost to Petunia Picklebottom, therefore preserving my self-image, while not screaming "Tacticool" at 200-decibels. They're bags I'll have a use for when the diaper period ends.

One related recommendation is having baby-specific medical supplies - 'cause if your kid has trouble, you want to have everything necessary on hand. Baby-specific items include oral airways, Benadryl and rehydration salts. I'm with Voodoo Man on that.

Jansport - $20 off the rack at Target. One in "Painbringer Pink" for the lady, one in "Blacked-out-DD214 Black" for my high speed, sheep-doggin' self.

The best thing was, owning these pieces of kit made us so tactical, nobody actually knew we were ever there at all...

Don't overthink this one. "Real" diaper bags are $60-200. Not worth it when any messenger bag is just as good. Any backpack is just as good.

The made-for-men diaper bags for infants have a lace to put wipes with a dispenser that is accessible from the outside, but if you pre-pull 2-10 and put them in your pocket before starting the changing operation... Works just as well. The bottle holders are overkill. Nice but not worth a dedicated bag for it.

EDC: You're basically holding bottles, formula, diapers (3-10), wipes, and a change of clothes or two. And, of course, a couple small toys.

My wife told me I could get a "daddy bag" for our twins so I didn't have to carry the Vera Bradley or Coach bag she uses. I said I didn't care. I've got twins girls and am "man enough" to not care a bit about carrying a floral print bag. Plus, find me a better discreet carry option. ;p

Right now we are using a generic messenger style bag but it is somewhat small and we will need more space soon once my little girl gets solid foods. I checked some of the listed bags out. I like the Stealth operator bag but it seems too small, the kifaru is nice but too pricey. I'm going to look at some bigger messenger bags as well as sling bags. Oh, the SOE Diaper bag is interesting and $200 which would be at the top of my budget. I'm looking for something that will still be useful after she's out of diapers.

It's held up really well . . . I'll probably snag one when it's my turn.

another vote for SOE, i have a bunch of their gear and a diaper bag on order. if its like their other stuff it will be built like a tank. getting a kryptec typhoon with green thread. it will look good and be useful after shes out of diapers. SOE stuff is built so well i bet i will pass the bag onto her someday.

when did you order the bag and I assume it was in stock when you did? I just read some various post about orders taking up to a year to be shipped but these are from 2008/2009.

It was not in stock. i used the contact form on their web page. The diaper bag is my 4th order from SOE and ive never waited more than a month, but you will wait. your mileage may vary.

My wife decided she wanted a big, green Coach bag covered in "C"s to use as a diaper bag so when I'm alone with the baby I look friggen fabulous. I'll give it this, we're on number two and that thing has taken a beating and held up well. I'll also admit that sometimes I just can't do it, so I throw the basics in a plastic grocery bag and drive on.

It doesn't really matter which bag you get, I use a small frost river daypack I got in trade (a cheap jan sport would work and then the kid can use it for school). You'll need a changing pad insert (try target, it hold 5 diapers and wipes and folds out to change the kid on). Also your wife's bag will never have what you need in it.

We have this one
http://www.diaperdude.com/black.html#.UzhG0VDD_qA

It works well, the zippers are pretty heavy duty. Has a way to connect onto stroller handles. It begins to get a little small about the time of potty training due to toy size.

It has held up for the last four years and still looks virtually brand new.

For my kids (oldest is 4 and youngest is 4 months), I have used a Maxpedition Sitka Gear Slinger. It has enough room for a towel, change of clothes, med kit, diaper change gear, etc. The differentiator for me is the ability to swing it around to the front quickly and easily after setting the kid down and access all of the contents.

I used a Air Force style Helmet bag, worked great.
You put the clothes in the main compartment, Dipes and wipes in one of the front pockets and the food in the other.

I have been using a KEEN COMPUTER ALAMEDA 15 MESSENGER BAG for all three of my kind. It is almost 8 years old and still in great shape. When not in use as a diaper bag i have it set up as a GO bag in my truck. So no one thinks different about me carrying it. Because I always have it with the kids around.

Same here. Luckily my wife went with brown. She also happened to work there so got a got it for quite a bit under what it would have cost. We used it pretty much all the time with our first kid (almost 4) and while our newest (almost 2) was younger. Now she normally use just a small tote bag as both kids need less stuff.

the bag is still in pretty good shape and we will still use if from time to time if we are going out on longer trips.

That Keen bag looks pretty nice. It's available in some pretty gay looking colors, which is neat. I try to look like an enormous pussy as often as possible, and since I trust Keen products, this might cover all my wants and desires.

I still worry that some guys have more money than sense. Dudes...it's a diaper bag. You're like 99.9% more likely to do immediate/remedial action on an exploded diaper and wardrobe catastrophic kill, than you are to stop the Mongolians at the gate with your bag. My tactical Jansport is still alive and kicking after several hot extracts of poopy pants, and that's after two kids, five years, and some time carrying books.

But maybe I'm just not understanding the need for a tactical diaper bag, because while I was using the Jansport for diapers and formula and such, I was fully decked out in my battle kit. Chest rig, like six blowout kits, the damn works. I wanted people to know they were in the presence of justice and awesome.

My wife handles the diaper bag and bought a cheap one. I wanted her to get this http://www.mysteryranch.com/mountain-adventure/travel-urban-packs/outsider-pack that way it can be used for other things. It should be noted though that I have an addiction to their packs so that may be part of the problem.

Vertx's line of bags look nice. They published a dozen really well done videos last night. One of the videos cover "alternate uses." The first part covers a huge diaper bag.

I do have to say the second lady is hilarious with her use of the range bag. Almost sacrilegious.

This has nothing to do with diaper bags, it just makes my skin itch every time I see your avatar.

That gun isn't going to be firing too long with the brass up like that.

I wished I had the kind of money laying around to pick up an SOE Diaper Bag or an Extreme Gear Labs Douche/Diaper Bag . . . but DAMN . . . if I did it would go to another case of ammo or something of that nature.

So here are the bags I'm currently looking at . . .

I have a Battlelab E&E bag that my mother in law bought me about 9 years ago. It's on its third tour of duty and has held up great.

A guy at the last gun show had some gray Eagle E&E bags for $75. I wanted to get one because, well, tan just isn't fashionable anymore.

I rocked a maxpedition edc. The nice thing was, after they were out of diapers and such but still required things like extra clothes, snacks, etc, it worked for day excursions really well and wasn't nearly as big as a traditional diaper bag. Either way, welcome to fatherhood. Is is the best and most rewarding adventure you will ever embark on.
