To protect the 550B from dust etc., I was wondering if a paper bag would function as good as the nylon bags Dillon sells?

Paper bag will tear easily. Use an old pillow case. Much more durable and accomplishes the same thing.

No issues with cotton absorbing moisture?

I've been using a trashbag for years. Not sure if there is anything wrong with doing that, but if someone peeks in my shop it doesn't look too important with a trashbag covering it.

I don't have humidity issues in my home. Used a pillow case on my 550 for years without issue. Never bothered to cover my 1050 and it doesn't collect dust.

Dillon sells nice covers with vents.

Cotton breathes. Moisture is a non-issue.

I wouldn't use a plastic bag, to avoid condensation (but I live in the PNW).
