View Full Version : 7th Group sporting some interesting weaponry at USASOC sniper competition
Everybody knows that SOCOM units get their own toys, but I had never seen or heard of anyone in the military using M&Ps or GAP-10s. These (and others) were posted on the USASOC Facebook page - figured I'd share.

That rifle is so spotless it could be a test or demo gun. ??
Yeah I was wondering if they were pretty new. These two guys are using it in every photo except one though, so I don't know if they would enter the competition with a brand new weapon they hadn't used much.
Interesting to see that it's topped with a Bushnell ERS in FDE? it's seems that Bushnell is coming on strong in the LE/MIL market. So far the scopes review are excellent.
The USASOC competition does not limit equipment to standard weapons -- competitors can use their personally-owned weapons and sidearms.

Ohh that makes more sense. Thanks for the input sinister.

Even USASOC uses Mechanix gloves? Geez, do those guys have a monopoly on the .mil supply chain or something?

The pic of him shooting it he has a GAP hat on....so either a employee demo dressed in the gear or just a fan using PO weapon

It appears to be a Serpa with the puck mount. I know several units still using Serpas.

This.
Also, it's usually referred to as the USASOC Sniper Comp.
The ASOC is usually in reference to the Benning International Sniper Comp.

Oh hell. Now you've done it. I hate SERPA's as much as MarkM hates LWRCI.

Looks a lot like an Insight MRDS in tan without the aluminum shroud.

He was talking about the optic on the bolt gun.
Before I left Eglin, the local paper did a small report on some 7th Group Snipers who were sponsored and taking a step into the competition world outside of the .mil stuff
There is a large range close to Alabama that is owned and ran by a CPT from 6th RTB and is used daily by 7th Group. So I am not shocked if those competing are using their personal setups

Damn, wish there was something like that near me!

You just need one with a MARPAT pattern and you'll love it.

You have to make the "I" lower case.
