View Full Version : Scar Bolt Wear

Hello all,
I recently noticed that there is a fair amount of wear on two of the locking lugs in my SCAR-16s. The corners of the two lugs are worn down, and I have fired this rifle relatively little. No, this is not magazine issues, as the two damaged lugs are at the top of the bolt.

I believe that the lugs are slightly colliding with the barrel extension lugs, (I slowly ran the carrier up and down after stripping the rifle, and every now and then the lugs would ever so slightly touch)

Should I call up FN and send them my rifle?? I'd really hate to be without it.

Thanks all!!

SilverCat

P.S. - I could put some pictures up in the morning if need be.

You don't really have anything to lose calling FN customer service, at worst your rifle needs some work and has to go back, or it could be considered normal wear of parts mating up. Or something in between. Maybe a new bolt or new barrel/extension might be needed. Give them a call and make sure you can send the photos to them.

My bolt also has wear on two of the lugs.
