View Full Version : Identifying Upper Forging Mark

I bought this Upper at a LGS and was trying to ID the maker. I see it has an Anchor Harvey Aluminum marking indicated with the “Splintered A” but I cannot identify the marking to the left. As shown, there is the “M4” marking at the flat top rail’s front end.

I was "told" it was a Colt but from what I’ve found, Colt’s generally have a “C” marking. Maybe I’m just misunderstanding the descriptions like “stylized bird head” or “M diamond”.

Just wondering who the maker is…
Thanks

I believe this indicates Diemaco, based on quick search.

Everything I've found states a "splintered A" represents Anchor Harvey.

If the marking on the left is a Diemaco's "stylized D"...then what does the splintered A represent?
Is there such thing as a Diemaco/Anchor Harvey?

Anchor Harvey made the forging for Diemaco.

There wasn't a clear answer in my search but what I gathered was that much the same way a "C" is included (for Colt) to forgings by a variety of makers, the Diemaco's mark was included because Diemaco finished the upper. I also read here that Diemaco was taken over by Colt 5 years ago or so. Not sure if these are off-hand remarks or substantiated. Also saw it alluded to that this represents a Canadian upper as MrSunday noted. The posts were from the 2008 time frame. Sorry I didn't save the links.

I'm sure someone has better information and will be along in a while. If not, a bit of digging might be fruitful since it is probably seen less frequently.

It's quite simple. Diemaco upper made from an Anchor Harvey forging.

hold on to it...it is machined to the colt TDP. They are not being made anymore with the Stylized Diemaco D. Colt Canada will frequently make parts for Colt USA and visa versa. Most Colt Canada parts today are stamped CC now or their upper is a raised Cage Code.
