I would assume that most if not all US made barrels as seen on kits and the C39, those offered by Atlantic, etc., are button rifled 4140. If it is then chrome lined, will it not wear fairly well in semi-only? I would suppose that 7.62 X 39 is also a bit easier on things like throat erosion than 5.56 or 5.45 also. Thoughts?

I think that the chrome-lined domestic 7.62x39 AK barrels are about on par with the originals- I've put a lot of rounds through a domestic-barreled G Kit build (including bumpfiring) with chrome lining and it looks like new when it's cleaned. I'm still skeptical of domestic 5.45x39 barrels, but have read lots of reports that they're finally up to acceptable standards.

I'd be very hesitant to buy a non-chromed AK barrel in any caliber (The factory Zastava ones are an exception, IMO)
