When I was stationed overseas in the mid 60's, wife was teaching at the JHS in Murrysville. Both of us grew up in that area.

Hopefully none of the students are seriously injured, our prayers are with them.

Sounds like a possible copy cat of that Chinese train station event that happened recently.

For those who are interested in how "they" think:

I'm surprised.

This is why I view it as

A violence problem.

It is why I believe targeting the tool is a short sighted policy. This is hardly more acceptable and IMO any who see this incident as" good" need to do some reflection.

Hopefully all will soon recover physically and psychologically.

People have been injuring and killing each other for ages...doesn't matter what the weapons were.

Outlaw A and they'll use B.

Outlaw B and they'll use C

etc.

It's not the weapons. It's the anger problem.

I mean, some people even "murder" each other with their words on the Internet...

And for anyone who doesn't think that can happen, or that it's trivial, look again at stories of people/kids who commit suicide because of online bullying.

People kill...intentionally or not...using whatever is at hand.

The local news here in VA is reporting several clinging to life and he emphasized -none- of the injuries were superficial.. then restated... none were slashing or glancing cuts but rather stabbing wounds.

So that does not sound promising at the moment.

Caught it on the local news up here in PA. From the news, and we all know how accurate they are, or rather how inaccurate, the word from them was that there were a few in surgery at the moment, two with cuts to the abdomen, but that there were a number of the 20 injured that were not in their words life threatening. I don't see us knowing exactly the injuries until at the earliest tomorrow, if not later this week.

From Foxnews, notice the comments from Roberta Cooke, school board director and member of the safety committee:

Graham said the attacker, a sophomore whom he did not identify, had been a victim of bullying.

"My point is this could’ve been avoided," Graham told FoxNews.com, adding that his daughter had been previously assaulted at the school. "That's my personal opinion.”

Roberta Cook, a Franklin Regional School Board director and member of the safety committee, said the local schools have well-practiced procedures in place for such events. Cook said she was awaiting a briefing on the incident, but had heard that no one had been killed.

"But I'm just glad it wasn't a shooter, because if it had been a shooter, there would have been fatalities," Cook, whose children attended the school, told FoxNews.com.

Now the operating room doctors indicated that four of the victims are in critical condition and two are clinging to life. Hope they pull through, because if they don't make it, Miss Cooke would be proven wrong.

I can't believe that I almost totally agree with something someone said on Democratic Underground. People will find ways to get weapons and kill. People will get weapons into places where they are not allowed. No amount of background checks, mental health screenings, or zero tolerance policies are going to prevent that. They get turned down for a gun purchase, they'll get one illegally. They can't get a gun, they'll get a knife. The absolute only thing that can be done is to stop attacks quickly when they happen. That's the only way to keep a body count down and to act as a deterrent to others.

The one thing I disagree with is from that DU poster is that I don't think this is an "anger" problem, and these people aren't seeking justice. That's an attitude that's killing us and really messing up kids: That the core reason for evil behavior is never truly the person's fault. No doubt how a person is treated can lead to certain perceptions and can lead to issues like antisocial personality, narcissism, etc, but the idea that when a person hurts you it's only because he's hurting inside and just wants a hug is bullshit and it's dangerous. Trying to cure narcissism and antisocial personality disorder with some kind of self esteem boosting is like trying to cure lung cancer with asbestos and cigarettes. It only solidifies their personal position: That they are great, everyone thinks they are unique and extraordinary, and they deserve everything they want and, if they can't get it, they have the right to take it, and if world still doesn't give them what they want, they have the right to make others pay with everything up to and including their lives.

"Thank goodness it wasn't a shooter".
Give me a break. I knew that would be said. If we are gonna play that game - Thank goodness it wasn't a TPX, a Honda Civic, a hammer, a steel toe boot, a golf club or a chainsaw.

20 people get stabbed before someone has the nerve to do anything about it. That is the real problem.

Prayers for those involved.

Don't be too surprised. There are a lot of "operatives" from TOS on DUh. I myself did almost a two year tour before finally getting tombstoned. That was about ten years ago but I know some guys who are still active.

Par for the course. It's the usual double speak they use. If a gun had been used, it's a gun problem. If anything but a gun is used, it's a violence problem. It's just their way of using manipulative wording and logic. It's reasonable on it's surface, but the underlying agenda remains the same.

If it is discovered he was, the media will hardly mention it. This is a common thread in nearly all mass killings by youth lately.

Big Pharma does not want the spotlight on them and will do plenty to keep it off them.

Yup, this is why you will never hear anyone in the DOJ or the MSM mention SSRI's after such events. Mums the word.

At least the disclosures on the side effects with creepy "soothing" music in the background provides some entertainment.

Not sure some of the "side effects" can really be called side effects. "Diarrhea, vomiting, anal leakage, fainting, stroke, death." I think I would call most of those effects. And when the "side effects" are worse than what the hell you started off with, well the argument could be made that the definition of insanity has been changed to replacing something bad with something worse and being happy. And all of a sudden our current situation makes so much more sense.
