I’ve known Jim from Advanced Performance Shooting (APS) for a few years now. I’ve taken several courses, both in and out of the Army, taught by Jim. While taking an APS Pistol course I got the chance to shoot one of Jim’s personal G19’s. I was amazed by everything, sights, trigger, trigger guard undercut, grip reduction, and texture. It fit my hands like it was made for them. Now if you are a Glock purest please don’t get upset. Glocks aren’t perfect for everyone, especially me (God blessed me with cabbage patch hands). So when Jim told me he was coming out with Superformance Glock Modifications I was jumping at the chance to get my chubby hands on one.

The gun pictured has only been out to the range 3 times (one training session and 2 matches) in the last month. I really can’t wait to get my own G19 worked on by APS.

The first thing that catches your eye is the KKM Barrel, which is hand fitted to each pistol.

The trigger is completely worked over. All metal on metal surfaces are polished to a mirror finish. There is a very smooth, short, take up. Followed a very clean and predictable break right about 4lbs with a distinct reset. I run an aftermarket trigger in my daily G19 and the APS trigger is measurably better.

What your hands notice the most is the grip work and texture. The entire grip is reduced, finger grooves are removed, and a beaver tail is added (either by modifying the stock one or one will be built if you have a Gen3) The texture is silicon carbide painted with Duracoat. The Navy approached APS about a grip for their rifles that needed to work under the worst conditions covered in sand, oil, fuel, mud, blood or dirt. The silicon carbide coating exceeded all their expectations, Jim takes it a step further with the duracoating over the silicon carbide making an amazing grip texture and it’s aesthetically pleasing. (There are about 5 APS G19s used daily totaling tens of thousands rounds fired, the grip texturing will outlast your pistol.) The trigger guard double undercut is absolutely top notch, Jim takes this to the next level in ways I can’t show or talk about. Every Superformace Glock I’ve handle points naturally and beautifully. You raise the pistol to sight level and the sights are on every time.

Sights are the customer’s choice. APS custom sights are in the works and should be available shortly. On the gun pictured are Jim’s personal sights. He likes the thinnest front sight he can get. I rather have the most noticeable front sight, but that is just me.

That grip texture looks really nice. It's sprayed on?

What, specifically, does this entail?

I don't have an answer for at this moment because I'm not that one who does it. I'll ask and get back to you.

I went to the Glock armorer's course last year and I have been running a Glock for a few years now. What I can tell you is: from gun to gun and part to part things aren't always the exact same. There are slight design changes within each generation of pistols. In the superformance packages all metal on metal surfaces are polished, barrels and trigger parts are hand fitted.

I don't do this myself, again I'm just a customer.

It's Blued! Shot it at a few matches and training sessions with no issues.
