You actually do not push down on sear pin, but on spring loaded, rectangular disconnector that is above it. Regarding pin, if you dryfire with slide removed, it walks out to the left and needs to be pushed back in place before putting slide back in. Pin can touch slide on cycling, it is designed to be kept in place by slide.

Thanks montrala, that is what I was trying to convey in my op. I am having to push down on the rectangular piece above the red circle, not the pin itself.That is normal.
