I have purchased 11 RAS rail systems to install on new weapons I own & some of the RAS rails lock up tight & some don't.
The issue is the lower rail, they lock up VERY tight at the barrel nut the issue is at the handguard cap.
Out of the 11 RAS rail systems 5 don't lock up tight, 4 colts produced during the 2008-2009 panic & 1 spikes that was produced during the 2012-2013 panic.
The colts were easy to fix because they had a mil-spec handguard cap with m203 cuts. A slight adjustment to the handguard cap with a brass hammer tightened the lower rail up on the colts.
The rails installed on the colts produced before the 2012 panic with no wiggle in the lower rail at all.
I believe the issue to be slight variation in the handguard cap dimensions.
I guess I will have to get out my dial calipers & find out if I am correct.
Does anybody have the proper dimension of what the handguard caps are supposed to be?
Has anybody else had the same problem & purchased the lower rail that locks on the barrel nut? Did it fix the play at the handguard cap?
