Hi guys,

My club have decided to come visit you lucky guys and girls in the USA, who get to play with lots of things that we can not get hold of in the UK, like Pistols and semi auto AR15's

I have had a trawl around the internet but surprisingly I have had little success so far.

So, I thought I would ask you guys, as it is your back yard after all, and you will know it best.

The requirements would be:

As visitors, we could shoot with little bureaucracy.
Pistols and AR15's available and anything else which makes a loud noise.
Out door range preferred, we would like to get a tan, and of course, friendly staff and training courses available would be a must.

Being near a tourist attraction like Las Vegas or Disney, or a good shopping location, would keep the families happy whilst we are keeping ourselves happy.

Any help will be greatly appreciated,

Dave

HELL, come on up to Detroit. Maybe we can go out and dodge a few gang bangers on our way shooting for the full on effect. ;p

hehe, that aside, you can pretty much pick most places in the US you most want to visit and just get a hold of some locals that can show you anything you want. God bless the US. ;p If you want to see some liberals wishing they had real guns try Cali,NY, or DC. ;p Bigger guns like the 50's might be more prolific where it's easier to go out and shoot them such as out west as opposed to somewhere like here in Michigan. And if full auto is your cup of tea pick a state where they're legal. That being said, OH, VA, TX, NV all come to mind as being good states to find some good things and places to shoot.

This place is close to Dulles (the Washington DC airport) and is indoors.

Las Vegas has some famous ranges that rent machine guns as well as other stuff plus you are in Vegas. I've never rented there or anything but it is famous for that.

...and then there's quite a few of us who enjoy shooting large caliber arms right here in MI as well. :D

I haven't gone shooting in Las Vegas but I have heard good things. You might want to check into that little further.

Thanks guys, Keep the ideas coming. I am currently checking out http://www.frontsight.com which certainly offers everything we are after but at a premium price.
Thankfully we have scheduled the visit for some time in 2010 to give us time to coordinate our diaries, and run some fund raising shoots to help with the costs.

Might want to check this NRA link for local ranges, there are 22 listed in NV.
NRA Listed ranges (http://www.nrahq.org/shootingrange/findlocal.asp)

I was at a range in VA where a guy was shooting a .50cal Barrett next to a guy shooting a Beowulf so there are some east coast large caliber ranges.

If I was travelling from the UK and wanted to see a real event, I would consider Knob Creek Knob Creek info (http://www.machinegunshoot.com/shootinfo.htm) or one in Texas http://www.thebannedofbrothers.com/. These are over the top events and something that with eough money, you can rent a turn on some of the weapons.
