I don’t often get a chance to spend this much time on 10MM handguns for one man in two different categories.
The venerable Colt 1911 and the Classic Smith and Wesson revolver.

With great companies like VZ making top quality grips for 1911 and Smith Revolvers I can bring some guns together in ways I could never have.

Materials like G10 being man maid can make a perfect match.

We should all support VZ grips he is on the forefront of the fight to make grips for Smith Revolvers and it is a big fight with Smith making guns for over 100 years the frames can be a challenge.

This set is for a good friend that knows the real deal.
Both got all the work and parts to make them sleepers and real fighting guns.

A 10MM load of 180gr bullet with a velocity of 1450 is hard not to love.

A pair of tens! I found these guns a few years apart, and they were made a few decades apart, but they belong together for eternity now. Joe always humbles me with his work. Bro, you turn vague ideas into unbelievable tools a guy can treasure. I can't stop looking at them!

Sometimes a pair of tens is the winning hand.

Very nice. Always been impressed with 10mm, though not a fan of .40. Having shot a Delta Elite that had been worked over by a smith I can say that they are surprising soft shooting guns, even with hotter loads, and damn was that thing accurate.

Nice pistols, just be careful of the minimal case support on the 10mm Delta chamber.

A shooting buddy of mine took shrapnel to the face from Buffalo Bore 10mm due to the nearly non existent case support in the 10mm Colt Delta. After the incident he was amazed at the lack of support. He sold it immediately following this incident as it wasn't worth the risk.

It is a custom gun that I built with a kart barrel not a colt barrel.
That changes everything about the way the chamber is cut but I do know what you are saying.

Love the Delta Elite, but man the Nightguard is just awesome! Really have a "thing" for those revolvers.

Really nice work as usual. The 10mm is a great pick for both. Have you had a chance to run them or like samples?

Love 1400+ fps and like I said, stunning execution.

Gotcha, that changes everything. Very nice! Consider the previous a PSA then!

I love that wheelgun, Joe. The contrasting grips really add a lot to the visual appeal.

I bet it shoots very well!

Sometimes it's the little things. I really like the generous bevel on the leading edge of the Delta's slide stop.

Love that 310. Wish I had one. Shoot 40 for the missus. 10mm for me.

Howdy,

In a Delta Elite?

A cracked frame after a few rounds. Back in '88-'89 when the DE first hit the market most of the ammo was hotter than the saami specs, some where actually marked "magnum" on the head and DE were known to last less than one box before the frame cracked at the slide stop hole.

Heck, I've seen them crack with nothing hotter than the old school Win 175gr SilverTip @ 1,280ft/sec.

You can only get about 1,350ft/sec out of a 180gr bullet before you start running into pressure above max saami specs. Been there, done that.

1,450ft/sec? With a 5" barrel I just don't see it happening with having flattened primers, bulging cases, etc. and at that pressure range a cracked frame.

Back in the early-mid 80's I had a 1911 in .451 Detonics Mag and eventhough it only ran around 35,000psi they were famous for cracking frames.

Even the original Bren Ten was known for cracking the frame and it's frame design was a lot stronger than a 1911.

Paul

P.S. Beautiful handguns!

I didn't know S&W made a 10mm revolver. That's very cool.

Smith makes the 610 and made 310s for short time.

That problem was easily solved. Colt just milled away the section of the rail above the slide stop window since it provides minimal support for the slide anyway. The Marines have been doing it for years with the MEUSOC 1911 and a few other manufacturers have followed suit.

Nice pair of blasters! I'll bet that revolver is a handfull to shoot.
