Installing a RMR on my Glock: How Difficult?

I purchased a Trijicon RMR for my Glock 34 and bought a pre-milled Glock 34 slide for it as well.

Question: How hard/difficult/complex is it to install the RMR on my own?

I've done some relatively straightforward gunsmithing on my guns before: trigger install in AR, full length mag tube on my Benelli M4, mods to my Glocks, etc.

Thanks for any advice/input/suggestions.

Which slide did you buy? I'd think if it's already milled, drilled and tapped, all you'd have to do is bolt it on. You're going to want to use some blue Loctite, and I'd torque stripe the heads as well just to make sure they're not backing off. Maybe I'm missing something but I think it's just that simple. This coming from someone who doesn't have an RMR, so take it with a grain of salt. But, if one were to buy the M&P CORE, that's all you need to do.

PS - Please post your results as I am considering sending out my G17 slide to be RMR'ed.

If it's milled, tapped, and has all the required hardware... just bolt it up.

Now I am looking for torque specs for the install. Maybe I have to break down and read the owners manual?

I just tighten mine down until the screws are snug (and use blue loctite). I've taken mine off and put it back on my G19 a couple of times and have never had a problem.

You might want to insure that you are using the screws that came with your slide and not the ones that came with the RMR. I beleive you might find the ones from Trijicon just a bit long.

Couldn't hurt, or you could just get them snug. Torque striping is also a good idea (as I mentioned above); if the screws start to back off it'll be easy to tell.

You may want to consider the RM63. Its Trijicon's sealing plate for RMRs.

ETA: Not sure if Trijicon has shipped RMRs with these in the past but I purchased a new RM06 a few months ago and the sealing plate did not come with it.

I've had the screws create sparks when torquing down my RMR. Yes I said sparks! These would be the button head screws that come with Atom mounts.

I have some gold colored anti seize that I bought for the titanium hardware on my MTB so I used that on the edges of the screws to prevent it from sparking.
