Like new M16A1

After months of research I've finally found what I was looking for..
..a real Model 613! :cool:

actually it's just a simple M16A1 but the cool thing is that here in Italy it's legal to convert a MG into a semiauto weapon :dance3:

This baby sat unused for all this time! Unfortunately I dont know where these rifles come from... the SN is in the 9,300,000 range.
a small batch was imported here and converted to semiauto by cutting the FCG here & there, shaving the BCG and replacing the sear with a steel block. The importer did a clean job.
btw, the rifles are sold with a Colt branded M7 bayonet.

I know it's not correct for a 603/613 but I couldn't resist and installed a 3 prong FH.
Fired 150 rounds without a single problem.

Did you have to have it rechambered in something other than 5.56x45? I remember reading something about Italy having a law banning firearms that use "military" cartridges, but I don't know all the details.

no,
the only caliber still banned is the .50bmg because it's considered a mil/leo caliber and the Govt think we poor civilian dont need such a powerful caliber for shooting paper targets

things have changed in late '80...
before that AR15 where sold in .222, FAL/Garands/M14 were rechambered in .270, 1911 in 45HP, etc.
it's a shame how many nice surplus guns were ruined that way...
the 9x19 ban is still valid for semiauto handguns (my Glock 17 is chambered for 9x21) but I've seen some 9Para carbines being imported recently..

Nice Colt I'm jealous!!! Wish we could do that here to surplus M-16's What does a rifle like that go for in Italy??? Can you get Beretta AR 70/90's redone to semi auto??? I'd love to have a 70/90 lower for my AR-70's I've built from surplus kits here in the US... Or flash hider!!!

paid mine 1600... not so expensive if you consider that the average price for an AR15 is 2000...
the most common Beretta available is the old AR70 in 222.. but those are factory semiauto.

$1600 for a Colt M-16A1 WOW!!! Wish we could be so lucky here in the US!!! I'd like to have a AR70 in .222 to add to my collection... I think they are a under rated rifle really like mine... You ever come across AR-70 magazines or 70/90 parts I'd take them off your hands...

Really cool that you can have original Colt M16s converted to semiauto. The AR70s you mentioned are "factory" in that they are factory semiauto like the AR70 Sporters that were imported to the US? Are ex-military AR70s converted to semi also available? What does a semiauto AR70 cost on the commercial market in Italy?

never saw an ex-military AR70 for sale.
the price of the Beretta is about 1200-1400euro just because of the weird 222 caliber and lack of mags/spare parts.
I know beretta also released a Sporter version of the 70/90... it's very rare and expensive (4-5k euro)
