first would it be possible to use a A2 buffer tube , spring and buffer if I permanently plugged the screw hole so you could no longer attach a stock to it?

Where is a good place for complete uppers and does 7.5 or 10 inch have any impact on reliability

ETA sorry I thought I had been in the pistol section mods please move.

You can use a rifle extension, but you have to find a way to retain the takedown pin.

Preventing rotation of the tube is a good idea too.

Several companies make a "gusset" that performs both functions.

Plugging the screw hole isn't really required, but cheap insurance.

Any particular reason for considering the A2?

I would switch the takedown pin to a push button release pin, both actually... You actually don't need the springs or pins once their installed.

Thanks for the information I had not thought about that. I am just going to get a pistol buffer assembly and go from there.
