View Full Version : Which optic for a .22lr AR plinker?
1. 3x Aimpoint Magnifier/Aimpoint Clone
2. Eotech 552 Clone (will a QD base riser be necessary?
3. Sightmark (docter style) with LaRue base
Which one would be best for a .22lr plinker? Which ones line up with BUIS front and rear?

I use an Aimpoint Comp C3 on my dedicated .22 upper. I bought it used and have been very pleased. I don't have BUIS on my practice rifle but I would imagine if I did, they would cowitness like they do on my normal AR.

I would also suggest you look at the SPOT optics. They have been reliable for us and have never had one returned.
C4
Not to steal thunder from anyone, but while following the link at the top of the forums here I found this from Vortex (http://www.vortexoptics.com/riflescopes/view/vortex-strikefire-red-dot-riflescope-with-ar15-mount) - does anyone have any thoughts? It might be viable in this application as well...
I've run a BSA $30 dollar cheapo Dot sight on my 10/22 for years. It's been beat on, and still works fine and holds zero. I wouldn't spend anything over $50-75 for a rimfire Dot sight.
I'm running a Truglo TG8030B red dot on the GSG-5. It works fine and cost $39.
yeah, basically i'm just looking for a knockoff optic for a flat-top .22lr dedicated AR...so i won't need gucci gear, just something that looks tactigucci.
So, out of the 4 listed, which one would you suggest I go with?
1. 3x Aimpoint Magnifier/Aimpoint Clone
2. Eotech 552 Clone (will a QD base riser be necessary?
3. Sightmark (docter style) with LaRue base
4. ACOG 4x32 Clone
TIA
I went with 3x Aimpoint Magnifier/Aimpoint Clone

Post pics. I'm sure I seen your rifle at arfcom without a scope yet in that .22lr thread.
Here's a pic with the ClonePoint and twist off mount for the 3x Magnifier mount.

that's the one i ordered but with the specter length lightweight FF tube. i figure at 10 bucks for a brick of 500 22lr it will pay for itself after 30,000 rounds. :D
the gsg-5...about the same! fun times ahead.
Non-red dot option, any decent 3-9x scope. I have one on a 1022 and it is hard to miss!

I was thinking one of these suckers:

I have to admit I'm a little anxious to see that Vortex Strikefire released! Looks like it would be perfect for a plinker!
