Pinning the reciever block on a RRA

Someone told me that the only way to sure reliability with the RRA 9mm is to pin the block. My RRA has not been all that reliable. Some of it is mag issues with C Products mags some may be ammo. WHen I first got the rifle I broke the bolt stop first time out firing +p ammo. I got a extra heavy buffer made by Slash and it won't run right without hot ammo with that buffer in. With the stock buffer it runs better but I am worried about breaking the bolt stop. Any ideas.

"If purchasing a 9mm magazine for use in a Rock River Rifle, you will need to adjust the magazine block .015-.020 lower to function properly in this platform."

This didn't work for me, but has for others. I gave up trying to get the CProducts mags (as well as the replacement mags that they sent) to work in any of my three 9mm carbines. I got rid of the CP mags and now use nothing but modified UZI and old Colt mags. And now, I'm a happy camper!

The only reason to pin the RRA mag block, is if you can't keep it in place with the internal pins. M60JOE (http://www.m60joe.com/) can do a "pin" job if you really want one.

I have both Slash's 9-Q buffer and the Wolfe XP buffer springs in my carbines. No problem. And, I only feed them WWB and Miwall reloads.

The problem with broken bolt catches is the amount of overtravel as regards the 9mm bolt. Some folks use Slash's buffers, some use $2.75 worth of quarters stacked inside of the buffer tube. The idea is to limit overtravel to approximately 1/8".

Also, are you running a ramped bolt?

All in all, 9mm AR carbines are finicky creatures. There can be a lot of fine tuning involved in getting one to run correctly. Some run fine right out of the box.

Thanks for the info I also got the bolt ramped because I am running a Geissel trigger. (sorry spelling)
